The CIS is currently comprised of eighteen member factions. The Confederacy fought against the Republic in the Clone Wars, and was doing okay until Darth Vader killed its leaders and turned off their droids, shutting down the Droid Army and Confederate Navy. After the failure of sitcoms like Two and a Half Wookies, and How I Met Your Master, George Lucas and Timothy Zahn searched for a new idea for a show that would make them more money. Searching for characters that they hadn't over-milked, Lucas and Zahn eventually came across several characters who made 10 second cameos in episode 2, and slapped them into a CGI cop show setting. In the first season, the characters mostly solved crimes that they themselves committed. There was even a 5 episode story arc that centered on Nute Gunray searching for his missing socks. Occasionally the CIS would battle their arch enemies the Jedi, evil cultists who sought to keep peace, bring balance to the force, and other fiendish plots. The 3rd and 4th seasons, in an effort to to appease Republican audiences, concentrated on stem cell research, and how it should not happen. There was even a 30 episode story arc called "The Clone Wars", in which the CIS battled a green donkey named Jackass, and his army of spider-man clones. But fortunately, it was not to last, for in the fourth season, the show was down to five viewers, plummeting from its all time high of six. After actually taking a look at the ratings for the first time, the producers gave the series a cheap ending, in which everyone was killed by the emo terrorist Anakin Skywalker. The show's end was then celebrated by everyone, especially those who worked on it. The Confederacy of Independent Systems, or CIS was the rebel force during the time of the Clone Wars. The Confederacy fought against the Republic in the Clone Wars, and was doing okay until Darth Vader killed its leaders and turned off their droids, shutting down the Droid Army and Confederate Navy. The Confederacy's formation was part of a scheme by Darth Sidious to create a war so he as Supreme Chancellor could be voted enough power to in the Galactic Senate to eventually exterminate the Jedi, declare himself emperor, and rule the galaxy. The CIS is currently comprised of eighteen member factions. Most of the Confederacy's power and activity is centered in or around Glythe sector, under the supervision and protection of the power of the Trade Federation. The Confederacy of Independent Systems was a government led by Darth Sidious and Count Dooku/Darth Tyranus. The enemy of the Confederacy of Independent Systems was the Galactic Republic. The Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS), also known as the Separatists, was a separatist movement, led by Count Dooku, that declared intentions to leave the Galactic Republic. Eventually, tensions between it and the Republic developed into war after Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Padmé Amidala were sentenced to execution on Geonosis. The CIS put fear in the hearts of countless citizens of the Republic, largely due to General Grievous, Supreme Commander of the Droid Armies. The Confederacy won many battles in the ensuing war but was dissolved when its leaders were killed on Mustafar, allowing Palpatine to reform the Republic into the Galactic Empire. The Separatists had many different ships, such as Battle Cruisers, battleships, starfighters and frigates. There were also many vehicles which they developed, and several different types of battle droids, like Super Battle Droids, Spider Droids, Buzz Droids, Magna droids and many more. The Separatist army also had many vehicles at their disposal, like MTTs, AATs, STAPs and Droid Carriers. They were led by Nute Gunray, Count Dooku, Poggle the Lesser, General Grievous, Assaj Ventress, and Savage Opress.
