Velian Sakaros
rdfs:comment
Velian Sakaros was a male Sith pureblood from Andaria. The son of Nagarian and Velia Sakaros, Velian was given the masculine form of his mother's name. He and his younger brother Tak were sent to private school in their home city, Cresyl. Nagarian trained his sons in the ancient Sith martial art Var Shek, though all of the Sakaroses were ignorant of their greater heritage. In later years, Tak was reluctant to even mention that he had had a brother, although Khrado Ragnos knew it and forced Tak to dwell on the memories in order to increase his power in the dark side.

n16:abstract
Velian Sakaros was a male Sith pureblood from Andaria. The son of Nagarian and Velia Sakaros, Velian was given the masculine form of his mother's name. He and his younger brother Tak were sent to private school in their home city, Cresyl. Nagarian trained his sons in the ancient Sith martial art Var Shek, though all of the Sakaroses were ignorant of their greater heritage. As Andaria's government grew unstable, Velian developed an interest in government service. He was appalled by the crime and widespread economic troubles on Andaria, and felt that the government needed to reassert control in order to amend its problems. However, he was loyal to the idea of government, and did not consider rebellion. When that very thing broke out in 78 BBY, Velian discussed the idea of joining the Nationalist cause with his parents. Nagarian and Velia were not supportive; the small enclave of Sith purebloods had struggled for their rights rather than being granted them like most other species. As time went on, Velian became increasingly disappointed in his family's lack of loyalty—Tak, like his mother, believed in family first, and argued occasionally with his brother. In 75 BBY, Velian left home shortly before the birth of his sister, Anticlea. He volunteered for the Nationalist Guard, and was trained as a soldier and enforcer. One of his first missions was a tax raid, but among the targets were Nagarian and Velia Sakaros. When they refused to pay double taxes, they were executed by the raiding party. Velian did not fire any shots, but also did not prevent the killings, feeling that the cause was more important than any individual. The patrol left Velian to deal with his siblings. An outraged Tak challenged his brother, and the two briefly fought a hand-to-hand battle. Outmatched against his older, stronger brother, Tak took up his family's ancestral Sith sword from its mount on a wall. The weapon responded to the dark side in Tak's heart, and the younger Sith cleaved his brother's chest open from shoulder to hip. Internal organs hemorrhaging into open air, Velian expired seconds later. In later years, Tak was reluctant to even mention that he had had a brother, although Khrado Ragnos knew it and forced Tak to dwell on the memories in order to increase his power in the dark side.
