The film was directed by Les Clark, Eric Larson, and Wolfgang Reitherman, under the supervision of Clyde Geronimi, with additional story work by Joe Rinaldi, Winston Hibler, Bill Peet, Ted Sears, Ralph Wright, and Milt Banta. The film's musical score and songs, featuring the work of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, are arrangements or adaptations of numbers from the 1890 Sleeping Beauty ballet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Previous Episode | Next Episode In this ALF Tales episode, ALF and his friends retell the story of Sleeping Beauty. Before the tale begins, a man from the network named Roger Cohen appears and tells ALF that the story will need to be updated since studies show that most of their audience does not hail from the Middle Ages. Sleeping Beauty is a classic fairy tale, which is the first in a set published under the title "Tales of Mother Goose" by Charles Perrault in 1697. Title and short intro here. Sleeping Beauty was a fairy tale from Earth. The Enviornmental Control Robot was programmed with this story in its memory by Dr. Smith. Upon discovering a sleeping princess, the Robot recalled this story and urged Will Robinson repeatedly to "Kiss the girl". (The Lost Civilization) Sleeping Beauty was a character in the fairy tale of the same name in the collected works of Mother Goose. In the story, Sleeping Beauty is cursed by a witch, which eventually results with her falling asleep for a hundred years. She would remain asleep until she was reawakened by the kiss from a prince. The term "Sleeping Beauty" was often used to describe an individual as they sleep. In 2152, Commander Charles Tucker III believed that Kaitaama, a Kriosian female in stasis aboard a Retellian freighter, resembled Sleeping Beauty. (ENT: "Precious Cargo") A fairytale that's told in the Weald: A young wizard falls in love with a fair maiden. She is a princess of such beauty that even a rose is unlovely by comparison. He tries to woo her; young and boastful, he promises her the world. She declines his advances, and come autumn, she chooses a prince. An ordinary, mundane, human prince. Not a jot of magic about him. They are to be married when the first rose blooms in spring. Oh, how the wizard fumes with hatred. He challenges the prince to a duel. "Who are you?" demands the prince. "What have you done?" screams the princess. Queen Sleeping Beauty is the well-known fairytale character from the fairy tales by Charles Perrault / The Brothers Grimm, a princess who is cursed at her christening to prick her finger on a spindle wheel and fall into a hundred years' sleep along with her entire kingdom. (see: Sleeping Curse) The Wishing Spell takes place after the traditional fairy tale ends and Queen Sleeping Beauty and her kingdom has been awakened. She has married a Prince Charming and now leads the Eastern Kingdom (formerly Sleeping Kingdom). Sleeping Beauty is a story. Sleeping Beauty is a sleeping beauty in the Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends TV Series. Thomas finishes his tale of Duke. After Duke remains asleep in his shed for several years, a group of adventurers hear of Duke and go in search of the lost engine. One eventually finds Duke after falling into his shed and Duke is transported to the Skarloey Railway, where Falcon and Stuart (now called Sir Handel and Peter Sam) see Duke and happily tease him about keeping him in order. Sleeping Beauty was originally a German fairytale. It tells the story of Rip Van Winkle, a comically short man who has a funny name and nose. One day he falls asleep and is discovered by Prince Charming who is so taken by his homoerotic beauty that he kisses him. Winkle wakes up and is disgusted with Charming, not being into guys, and flees. He soon finds out that he's been asleep for 9 years, and has been during that time elected mayor of Aspen, Colorado. Resigning his mayorship he goes on a quest taking him to a poor farm where he meets a farmer's daughter. She is also struck by his good-looks, since she was diagnosed with crazy as a child. Her father tries to force a marriage, but Winkle refuses, saying he could never marry a girl unless she could spin straw into gold. Upon failing to d Sleeping Beauty is an episode of the television series Hello Kitty's Animation Theater. Sleeping Beauty is a classic fairy tale by Charles Perrault first published in 1697, but perhaps the most famous interpretation is Walt Disney's 1959 animated film, which borrowed from the Tchaikovsky ballet. Sleeping Beauty is a fairytale. It involves a beautiful princess falling under a sleeping spell that could only be broken by a prince. While Carol Danvers was in the Midtown Hospital as a "Jane Doe", the doctors and nurses called her Sleeping Beauty because of her attractiveness and the fact that she would not wake from a coma. Carol was eventually awakened by the mutant Rogue whose touch restored her mind and memories. The story remained popular for a long time. In the year 2055 during a dystopian future, Bishop called Wolverine Sleeping Beauty after he knocked the elderly man out. Sleeping Beauty is a track in BIOHAZARD THE DARKSIDE CHRONICLES ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK. Sleeping Beauty is a 1959 animated feature produced by Walt Disney Pictures and Buena Vista Distribution and originally released to theaters on January 29, 1959. The sixteenth animated feature in the Disney Animated Canon, it was the last animated feature produced by Walt Disney to be based upon a fairy tale (after his death, the studio returned to the genre with The Little Mermaid), as well as the last cel animated feature from Disney to be inked by hand before the xerography process took over. Sleeping Beauty is also the first animated feature to be shot in Super Technirama 70, one of many large-format widescreen processes (only one more animated film, The Black Cauldron, has been shot in Super Technirama 70). The film spent nearly the entire decade of the 1950s in production: the story The Sleeping Beauty (Russian: Спящая красавица / Spyashchaya krasavitsa) is a ballet in a prologue and three acts, first performed in 1890. The music was composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky (his opus 66). The score was completed in 1889, and is the second of his three ballets. The original scenario was conceived by Ivan Vsevolozhsky, and is based on Charles Perrault's La Belle au bois dormant. The choreographer of the original production was Marius Petipa. This movie always astounds me at what a colossal epic and what a colossal mess it is, both at the same time. However, she would not stop talking, causing the dragons of Camelhot to lose their sleep. She never got tired either, so Sir Burnevere tried to hypnotize her, Sir Hotbreath tried to knock her out with a hammer, and Flicker tried to tire her out by dancing with her. She became bored with Camelhot and decided to go back to sleep for another hundred years. Flicker set up her bed to rock back and forth, and she fell asleep again. Sleeping Beauty is a 2013 action fantasy with the producer who made Alice in Wonderland and Snow White and the Huntsman, starring Jennifer Good, Rupert Grint, Alexander Ludwig, Steve R. McQueen, Jamie Lee Curits, Cameron Diaz, Dennis Quaid, Avan Jogia, Brittany Snow, Emma Bell, Michael Caine, A fairytale that's told in the Weald: A young wizard falls in love with a fair maiden. The prince, quick as a fox and twice as clever, immediately whips out his sword and slashes the wizard's face. Blinded in one eye, perhaps mortally wounded, he runs into the forest, not to be seen again. Spring arrives, and the rose buds are swelling. The day of the great wedding feast is at hand. In the great hall in her father's castle, a host of guests attend the ceremony. At the moment they are to be joined in matrimony, the door slams open, and a very old man limps inside. The ceremony is halted. "Who are you?" demands the prince. "I think you know already!" croaks the old man, and lifts his hood. A hideous scar runs from his chin, across his mouth, over his left eye, and up to his wrinkly forehead. "What have you done?" screams the princess. In silent answer he lifts his staff, a thick, twisted, thorny thing, black and charred, and lets it go. The moment it hits the ground, all the roses in the castle turn black, and thorny vines sprout in all directions. The sweet smell of roses permeates the great hall, and the prince, the princess, her father the King, and the whole host fall in a deep slumber. The vines keep growing, and soon the castle is covered in a thicket, until even the spires on the castle walls are nowhere to be seen. Some say the prince, the princess, her father the King, and the whole host slumber still, deep under the mountain of thorny vines, where the black roses grow, at the end of the forest road to the east. Sleeping Beauty, sometimes Sleeping Ugly, is the name of the character being played by a curse fiend. Crunch, an ogre, happened to see her rehearsing and thought she needed to be rescued. She seemed delighted by the rescue and married him. They have a son Smash who was raised as an ogre. Smash used to be disturbed when his mother was out of makeup. Sleeping Beauty was a character in the fairy tale of the same name in the collected works of Mother Goose. (ENT: "Precious Cargo") In 2371, a transporter malfunction due to a temporal anomaly caused Commander Benjamin Sisko and Doctor Julian Bashir to time travel to the year 2024. Two policemen, named Vin and Bernardo Calvera, found the Starfleet officers lying unconscious on a pavement in Sanctuary District A of San Francisco. One of the men, Vin, likened Sisko to Sleeping Beauty. (DS9: "Past Tense, Part I") In 2374, B'Elanna Torres described Harry Kim as "Sleeping Beauty" after he had spent a long time sleeping due to the effect of the neurogenic field emanated by the dream species. What neither were aware of, however, was that they were both still asleep as part of a collective unconsciousness. The Sleeping Beauty (Russian: Спящая красавица / Spyashchaya krasavitsa) is a ballet in a prologue and three acts, first performed in 1890. The premiere performance took place at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg in 1890. The work has become one of the classical repertoire's most famous ballets. The ballet's focus was undeniably on the two main conflicting forces of good (the Lilac Fairy) and evil (Carabosse); each has a leitmotif representing them, which run through the entire ballet, serving as an important thread to the underlying plot. Act III of the work, however, takes a complete break from the two motifs and instead places focus on the individual characters of the various court dances. (The Lost Civilization) However, she would not stop talking, causing the dragons of Camelhot to lose their sleep. She never got tired either, so Sir Burnevere tried to hypnotize her, Sir Hotbreath tried to knock her out with a hammer, and Flicker tried to tire her out by dancing with her. Eventually the dragons turned to Merle the Wizard for sleeping potion, but Merle switched it around with coffee, causing the dragons to fall asleep and allowing Count Geoffrey to raid the castle, stealing a cauldron that King Allfire swore to protect and kidnapping Sleeping Beauty. However, Geoffrey and his Evil Knights hid from her when she wouldn't stop talking, and when Flicker arrived to rescue her, Geoffrey gave them back the cauldron in return for taking Sleeping Beauty back to Camelhot. She became bored with Camelhot and decided to go back to sleep for another hundred years. Flicker set up her bed to rock back and forth, and she fell asleep again. Upon failing to do so Winkle attempts to leave the farm, but the father delays him, saying his daughter knows his real name. Upon confronting her she gives him the name of 'Rumplestiltskin', at which point Winkle laughs so hard and long that she banishes herself to the tallest tower on the farm. Winkle wasn't done laughing, though, so he asks her to lower her hair to him that he may climb it and see her, pretending to be Prince Charming. She falls for it, and when he gets up there starts laughing at her again. And pointing. She commits suicide by driving a needle from a spinning-wheel into her forehead. Winkle leaves ostensibly continue his merry travels, but no more of the story is known. The story was, like that of Prince Charming, split into different sections and stories over time, changing greatly. Often Charming takes Winkle's role in one or more of the sections of the story. The story begins with the King and Queen presenting the newborn Prince. The three nice wizards Bill Grandalf, Joe Froday, and Buzz arrive to cast good spells on the child. They cast spells of beauty and wisdom upon the Prince when the evil sorceress shows up and casts a spell of death on him, predicting that he would suffer a fatal paper cut on his sixteenth birthday. When the sorceress leaves, Joe Froday transforms the paper cut spell into a sleeping spell. They then inform the King and Queen that only the kiss of true love will free him from the spell. The King then banned all paper from the kingdom, decreeing that the people should watch TV instead of reading, and that all utility bills would be printed on Canadian bacon. Sixteen years later, the Prince sees a beautiful Princess on a bridge and falls in love with her. Meanwhile, the evil sorceress sends her apprentice to deliver a newspaper to the Prince, from which he receives a paper cut and falls asleep. The Princess insists that she be taken to the evil sorceress, so the apprentice takes her to her castle. When a peasant tells the three nice wizards of the abduction, they go to the castle and give the Princess the Book of Truths to help her defeat the evil sorceress. They combat each other by stating trivial facts to each other. The Princess eventually overcomes the sorceress and goes to kiss the Prince, but his alarm clock wakes him just before the kiss. The Princess then takes one of the wizards' wands and puts him back to sleep and kisses him over and over. They eventually get married and live happily ever after. This movie always astounds me at what a colossal epic and what a colossal mess it is, both at the same time. The film spent nearly the entire decade of the 1950s in production: the story work began in 1951, voices were recorded in 1952, animation production took from 1953 until 1958, and the stereophonic musical score was recorded in 1957. It was originally a failure and did not make up the huge cost of the film. Along with the mixed critical reception, it was also noted to be the film that made Walt Disney lose interest in the animation medium. However, the subsequent re-releases proved massively successful, and critics and audiences have since hailed it as an animated classic. Title and short intro here. Sleeping Beauty is a story.
