The Black Mist, also known as the death mist, was a biological superweapon created by the Charon Dominion at some point during the Oblivion Crusades. The Charon utilized Black Mist upon entire worlds at a time to weaken the population before their full-scale invasion. In standard quantities, it was capable of inflicting intense pain, as well as coarse fits of coughing and exhaustively laborious breathing. Black Mist specifically targeted and affected the nervous system of the being it came into contact with. While primarily used by the Charon to weaken or incapacitate individuals or a populace, in heaver concentrations, it was easily capable of killing its victim as they suffered a complete and total failure of their nervous system, as well as other symptoms like cardiac arrest, seizures, inducing hallucinatory images and madness to an organic target. For most sapients, the only practical defense against the Black Mist was to wear sealed vacuum suits, as the mist could cling to skin and enter the body through pores making, it very difficult to escape once it touched its victim. Charon warriors of the Zealot Caste were often inoculated before battles with medically refined Venom, which acted as a natural defense against attacks to their nervous systems.
