They are the most commonly seen vehicles in the first season, with appearances in eight different episodes. In The Big Sleep, during Eva's angry rampage to find her MP3 player, she begins to recklessly throw objects out of the Bass' cabin, with one of the objects being a canoe. In Dodgebrawl, after Lindsay and Tyler leave the dodgeball court to be together and cuddle underneath the Dock of Shame, Heather finds them. Heather is enraged, since she had ordered Lindsay not to date anyone on the other team. When Tyler tries to calm her down, she throws a canoe on Tyler, telling him to \"dodge this\", to which Tyler responds by saying \"ow!\". Arguably the canoe's most significant appearance in the whole series is in Up the Creek. It also features the most amount of canoes of any episode in the series, with seven: four for the Screaming Gophers (which were appropriately colored green), and three for the Killer Bass (which were similarly colored red). The teams have to split into smaller groups of two or three and paddle canoes to the dreaded Boney Island. Once there, the campers have to carry their canoes across the island where they must build a signal fire. Chris judges which fire would attract the most attention. Thanks to Izzy, the Screaming Gophers win this leg of the challenge. The two teams begin to paddle back, where the first team that get there will be declared the winner. DJ summons enough courage to push his entire team's canoes back to the island, and in a strange turn of events, the Killer Bass are declared the winners. Over the course of the episode, several significant character development scenes take place during the canoe rides. One such scene is when Cody makes his biggest move in attempting to win over Gwen, to which she rejects him twice. However, he does manage to win her friendship by instead offering to hook her up with Trent, the boy whom she truly likes, by getting her alone with him in the same canoe on the return trip. This, more or less, is the moment when their relationship is fully established. Another scene also involved Bridgette and Geoff, in which they both discuss their relationship with their canoe partners DJ and Courtney, respectively. In If You Can't Take The Heat..., when Harold wakes up naked on the Dock of Shame, in front of all the girls, Duncan, Geoff, and DJ are seen paddling a canoe, laughing at him, and asking him one final time to stop leaving his filthy underwear around the cabin, to which he solemnly agrees to. This scene suggests that the campers are allowed to use the canoes to their leisure, or that Duncan simply stole it. In Basic Straining, Chef Hatchet forces the two teams to compete in a twisted competition, to see which team can hold a canoe over their heads for the longest amount of time. When one person drops out, everyone is relieved of the challenge. At one point, Chris and Chef sit on top of the canoes to increase the difficulty of the challenge. In Hook, Line, and Screamer, when Duncan encounters the fake killer (Chef Hatchet in disguise), one of the items he throws at him is an entire canoe, which is easily sliced in half by Chef's chainsaw. In Trial by Tri-Armed Triathlon, the final six campers had to split into three groups of two (which were Gwen and Geoff, Duncan and Leshawna, and Owen and Heather) and canoe back to Boney Island to return the cursed tiki idol Beth picked up as a \"souvenir.\" Yet another significant character development scene took place during the canoe ride, between Duncan and Leshawna, in which the latter confronted Duncan about having a nice side, which she backed up by referring to when Duncan got a new pet bunny for DJ after his first one died in Who Can You Trust?. In I Triple Dog Dare You!, when Heather is faced with Lindsay's dare of having her head shaved by Chef, Chris reminds her that if she refuses the dare, she will miss out on the chance to win the $100,000. To put more pressure on Heather, a red canoe suspended by wires dropped down onto the stage that they are on, with the money piled up inside of it. In Total Drama, Drama, Drama, Drama Island, Harold paddles up to Heather in a canoe while she is walking alongside the river and talks to her, which creates an emotional character development scene between the two. When she rejoins his team, they continue down the river until they arrive at the campgrounds. Once they see the hot-air balloon passing by, which has Courtney, Cody, DJ, Tyler, Owen, and the million dollar case all inside, they abandon the canoe and race into the campgrounds."@en . . .
