The formula for storage capacity there is The Metal Storage is a level 1 structure in Total Annihilation available to both the ARM and the CORE. For each Metal Storage built, the player's metal stock capacity is increased by 1000. Conversely, each Metal Storage destroyed will reduce the player's metal stock capacity by 1000, and the excess metal is lost. The building is useful in storing excess metal for later use, especially considering metal production is generally much lower than that of energy.

n33:abstract
Metal Storage structures provide huge storage containment for raw unprocessed metal from metal mines. The higher the level, the more metal can be held. Once the capacity is used up, no more metal can be harvested by the metal mines. The storage capacity can be seen by clicking the Resources page or it can be calculated with the following formula: Note: It may be interesting to note that Metal Storage structures past level 15 cost more than they can hold. For instance, a level 16 Metal Storage costs 65,536,000 metal, but can only hold 57,700,000 metal. This puts a limit on the amount of resources any planet can produce, unless it receives resources from another planet, or uses any of the Resource Saving techniques. Note: New universes have changed the rules a lot. On those universes, initial resource limit is 10,000. The first storage costs 1,000 Metal and enchances the limit to 20,000, the second to 40,000 and so on. The formula for storage capacity there is Shielded Metal Den: Level 2 The Metal Storage is a type of featured in The Last Stand: Dead Zone.
