The group currently consists of four Osaka women: their leader, Nanase Ohkawa (大川 七瀬, Ōkawa Nanase), who provides much of the storyline, scripting and direction; Mokona (もこな, Mokona), formerly Mokona Apapa, who usually's in charge of the art; Tsubaki Nekoi (猫井 椿, Nekoi Tsubaki), formerly Mick Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi (いがらし 寒月, Igarashi Satsuki), she conserved her name but changed her Hiragana and Kanji (formerly 五十嵐さつき), both of them assistants. • Mokona wanted to drop her surname because it sounded too immature for her liking. In 2373, Starfleet Ensign Harry Kim and Lieutenant junior grade Thomas Paris were fitted with clamps upon being falsely sentenced for the bombing of the Laktivia recreational facility and sent to the Akritirian maximum security detention facility. Kim compared the effects of the clamp to being covered with fire ants. The effects of the clamp eventually became debilitating for Paris, though Kim managed to protect him until they were rescued. Despite this, at least one prisoner managed to survive six years with a clamp. One of the prisoners, Zio, believed that the clamp was a method of prisoner population control, by compelling the prisoners to kill each other. Kim agreed with his conclusion after The Doctor examined the devices. Altre opere secondarie, come light novel, one shot manga, libri o altre serie (come CLAMP IN WONDERLAND, Soel to Larg - Mokona=Modoki no bōken, Shiritsu Horitsuba gakuen o CLAMP no kiseki) sono presenti, seguite dalle numerose collaborazioni con altri mangaka o opere di animazioni (come il famoso anime Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch). Naturalmente la wiki è ricca di news sulle uscite dei nuovi capitoli sia giapponesi che italiani, e segue con attenzioni gli sviluppi dei nuovi progetti CLAMP: Kobato. e Mangettes. CLAMP began as a twelve member group, but by 1990 there were only seven members left. Later on three more dropped, narrowing them down to four. Their first hit was RG Veda, an apocalyptic story with an Hindu mythology touch, which tells the story of a rebellion and betrayal in the Kingdom of Heaven and the path of the six stars in order to defeat Taishaku, the usurper, from his throne. But their real success came with "CardCaptor Sakura", when they became known worldwide. After writing and publishing Chobits, Angelic Layer and Clover, they started working on Lawful Drug and xxxHOLiC, before begining Tsubasa (which was conceived before Holic but it's only when the group arrives in Yuko's shop, the Wednesday of that same week the series began their publishing in Shônen Mag., linking them both from the beggining). While some of their works are still in progress, "Tsubasa Chronicle" and "xxxHolic" are the ones that crossover the most, for the two are very related with each other. "Lawful Drug" is currently stopped because their publishing magazine closed. CLAMP had their anniversary in 2004 as a manga group and the members changed their names from Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona Apapa, Mick Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi to Ageha Ohkawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi. Why they changed their name, which was revealed in a later interview with Ohkawa, was of different reasons as: • Mokona wanted to drop her surname because it sounded too immature for her liking. • Nekoi disliked people who commented that her name was the same as Mick Jagger's. • Ohkawa and Igarashi, who wanted to go with the flow, also changed their names as well. They have also won an award for one of their works – Cardcaptor Sakura. And in 2001 they received the Seiun Award, a famous japanese science fiction award. * Funny Fact: CLAMP means "a pile of potatoes!" * Note More about CLAMP can be found on the CLAMP Wiki • Ageha Ohkawa whose former name was Nanase Ohkawa, was born May 2, 1967 in Osaka. Ohkawa is the leader of the group and also the script writer. She negotiates with their editors and also, sometimes, writes the screenplays for the animated versions of their manga. She recently changed her name back to Nanase Ohkawa. • Mokona was born June 16, 1968 in Kyoto. Her former name was Mokona Apapa and she is the main artist of the most stories, and during several times also in charge of the design. The trademark of the studio is her detailed art style, and as you might already have noticed – also the namesake of Mokona (appears in Magic Knight Rayearth and later in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle and xxxHolic). • Tsubaki Nekoi, former name was Mick Nekoi, was born January 21, 1969 in Kyoto. She is primilary Mokona's assistant but also the main artist to some of the series as xxxHolic etc. Tsubaki is also in charge of drawing super deformed characters and mascots. She works with Mokona on character design. • Satsuki Igarashi was born February 8, 1969 in Kyoto. Her name is the same but the spelling which is different. She assists Mokona and Tsubaki in their work and is in charge of the design of tankobon – is the japanese term for a book that is complete in itself and is not a part of a series. They have worked on several series, while some are done, other are ongoing. These have been released in tankobon forms while others were released only in magazines. CLAMP (spelled cramp in Hebrew, English, crap in vortigese, clam in german) is the name of a group of secret intelligence facility that is located at a top secret place in Tokyo Babylon. As not only a secret intelligence facility make-over; they specialize in propaganda distribution such as Shonen Ai and other animation stuffs which sold hundred millions of so-called Propaganda tanko-bons under the Japanese self defense forces. They started as a dōjinshi circle called Clamp Cluster in the mid 1980s, drawing dôjinshis from 1987 until 1991. Originally, CLAMP was a 12-member group. They were: Mokona Apapa, Tsubaki Nekoi, Satsuki Igarashi, O-Kyon, Sei Nanao, Tamayo Akiyama, Leeza Sei, Sōshi Hishika, Kazue Nakamori, Shinya Ōmi. Their dôjinshis were published in a collection called CLAMP BOOK. They also published a "doujinshi" collection called CLAP NEWS, which included small stories with their most recent series at the time, and artbook images. They currently reside in Tokyo. CLAMP created their original artwork by 1987. Because of the successes they had, seven of them decided to go professionally, debuting with their first manga, RG Veda in 1989. The three additional members were: Nanao Sei 七穂せい, Hijiri Leeza 聖りいざ and Akiyama Tamayo 秋山たまよ, the latter having written DERAYD and CLUSTER with CLAMP. Akiyama is now a solo mangaka, and has completed a fourth volume of CLUSTER. Nanao Sei was the first of those three to quit the group as she saw no future in drawing anymore. All CLAMP's manga suddenly stopped serialization for a few months in mid-1994. Officially, Ookawa was recovering from the effects of an unhealthy diet, but the probable real cause was CLAMP's dissatisfaction with the policies of Asuka's editor. Contributing to their absence was CLAMP's addiction to video games (they have portrayed themselves as fans of Streetfighter II, the Jojo's Bizarre Adventure game, and Shin-Megami Tensei 真・女神転生). After the departure of those three members, CLAMP's style has been changing. Not so much the drawing style, but especially the stories. The first CLAMP series where darker of nature, latter series seem to radiate an intense happiness. More recently, CLAMP has broadened their horizon and made Shounen and Seinen series. The members of CLAMP are fond of a good prank, proven by the following anecdote:In Puff Magazine, there's every month a character poll. In order to get a character a point, you have to send in a drawing of the character, so every point is really earned. In Puff #10, 1994, "Kuujou Joutarou" character from "Jojo's bizarre adventure" suddenly tops the poll, and the reason... Clamp confessed that they have been drawing entries to the Puff poll to make Kuujou Joutarou from Jojo No.1 in the poll! Well, they made it! The character had 210 entries and topped the poll, and from what they said, I figured that nearly all entries were done by Clamp! Some of the drawings and messages were published, and they are so funny... Even the editor of Puff was very surprised by the postcards mountain from Clamp. He said there must be more than 50 entries from each members. CLAMP had their 15th anniversary in 2004 as a mangaka group, and their members decided to change their names. Ageha Ohkawa recently changed her name back to her original name, Nanase Okhawa. Clamp (クランプ, Kuranpu, or CLAMP) is a Japanese mangaka group.
