Puberty
rdfs:comment
Puberty was the name of the first song recorded by John Lennon. The song was banned in New Zealand for the lyrics "Way down in New Zealand, the octopus eats little kids. They don't care, that's puberty!" Puberty is the term used to describe when a child starts on the process to become an adult. It is triggered by an increase of human growth hormone in the pituitary gland, which in turn increases the production of estrogen and testosterone. In females, it is characterized by the beginning of menstruation. There is no single event that defines puberty in males. However, both sexes start showing signs of development: - Secondary sexual characteristics. Pubic hair in both sexes. Facial hair and increased musculature in males. Development of the breasts and hips in females. "Puberty" is the eighth episode of Season 5 of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, and the forty-eighth episode of the series overall. It originally aired as the seasons second episode on March 7th, 2010. Puberty is the process through which a teenager undergoes assholeish behavior usually accompanied by a new outlook on life and a healthy sense of rebellion. Most side-effects of puberty are considered to be positive, and include an increase in body hair, a cracking voice (which adds character), and growth spurts which throw the body out of whack and akimbo (which most adults find cute). Puberty is a very widespread phenomenon and is little understood among scientists. About 99% of adults have successfully undergone puberty, and it has been called nature's plastic surgery. Puberty was the development of secondary sexual characteristics as found in most humanoid species, as well as the development of the ability to reproduce. The secondary sexual characteristics vary greatly from species to species. Elogium was the Ocampan equivalent to puberty, while jak'tahla could be considered the Klingon form of puberty. (VOY: "Elogium"; Star Trek: Insurrection) The finiis'ral was a stage in a Kriosian empathic metamorph's life that was similar to late-stage puberty. (TNG: "The Perfect Mate" ) Puberty is the process of biological development found in many species when children develop into sexually functional adults. Klingon puberty is know as the Jak'tahla. (TNG movie: Insurrection) The onset of puberty in Tellarites is marked by the development of a bristly yellow mane. (DS9 novel: Devil in the Sky)

Puberty is the process of biological development found in many species when children develop into sexually functional adults. Klingon puberty is know as the Jak'tahla. (TNG movie: Insurrection) The onset of puberty in Tellarites is marked by the development of a bristly yellow mane. (DS9 novel: Devil in the Sky) "Puberty" is the eighth episode of Season 5 of Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!, and the forty-eighth episode of the series overall. It originally aired as the seasons second episode on March 7th, 2010. Puberty is the term used to describe when a child starts on the process to become an adult. - Extremely fast growth. Children going through puberty can grow 30-60 centimeters in height in periods as short as twelve months, although the range and rate of growth varies widely. - In males, sudden deepening of the voice and increased penis size and development of testicles. Studies of persons going through puberty also show that brain development changes, and sleep patterns start to change so that teenagers tend to want to stay up later at night. These changes in hormones and brain development are thought to account for much of the behavior of teenagers, particularly a difficulty in controlling impulses. Precocious puberty describes a condition where a child starts puberty much earlier that usual. Although this can be the result of environmental exposure to hormones (see Act Your Age), the age of puberty has been decreasing for both sexes over the past forty years. (TNG: "The Perfect Mate" ) While on Earth Two, Spock mentioned the possibility that the native children could contract the life prolongation project virus when they entered puberty. (TOS: "Miri" ) Rybo-viroxic-nucleic sequences and structures was one of the key factors that controlled certain chemical and genetic changes in development during puberty oof a humanoid. (TNG: "Rascals" ) When Odo began experiencing fluctuations with his morphogenic matrix in 2372, Doctor Julian Bashir theorized that the fluctuations were the result of a normal biological process for Changelings that was similar to puberty and menopause. Odo replied that Bashir's theory was "interesting", but suggested that the doctor keep it to himself. (DS9: "Broken Link") In 2374, Tom Paris welcomed Chakotay and Seven of Nine in a cave on a class Y planet where he was trapped and told them he saw his life passing before his eyes and arrived at puberty when he lost consciousness. (VOY: "Demon") Puberty is the process through which a teenager undergoes assholeish behavior usually accompanied by a new outlook on life and a healthy sense of rebellion.
