Kihara Noukan (木原脳幹 Kihara Nōkan?) is a character introduced in Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index. He is a member of the Kihara family and is first referred to in 4th Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index novel, as a golden retriever by Kihara Byouri in Baggage City. He later appears at the end of his 'cleaning' operation in Academy City, having spent some time eliminating rogue elements while Aleister Crowley was away. He also calls himself a counter to beings like Ladylee Tangleroad, Fräulein Kreutune, and Aiwass. It is later revealed that Noukan was originally a dog belonging to the seven scientists that became the first Kiharas, who granted him intelligence by expanding his brain through arithmetic circuits and external attachments, and has been alive for at least eighty years, being one of Aleister Crowley's few confidants.
