Ciil War is a gametype where the player has no loader and must manually handfeed their paintballs into the their gun one at a time. This game is preffered by some due to eliminating the factor of quick shooting guns over pure accuracy. Some find this gametype tedious and prefer quicker moving gametypes. A Civil War is a war when two or more groups from the same country fight a war against each other. Civil wars are often bloody because both sides tend to see the other side as treacherous fellow countrymen, then a cry goes up, “Kill the traitors.” Notable Civil wars were:- 1. * the English Civil war when Oliver Cromwell and the parliamentarians defeated King Charles 1st in the 17th Century. 2. * the American Civil War when the Northern states defeated the Southerners and freed the slaves in the 19th Century. <default>Civil War</default> Wiki.png Erscheinungsjahr Autor Zeichner Chronologische Ausgabe Veröffentlichte Ausgabe (D) Inhalt Civil War ist ein Comic der offiziellen Marvel-Comic-Sammlung. Date: D230, Y976 You are viewing the interior of a large pavilion, perched under the eaves of the tent. Below you, you see what can only be a council of war. Clustered around a large battle table, you see the Emperor of the Xalar Empire being briefed by his generals. Right now, his general of scouts, Sidon, is detailing the conditions of each of the rebel army's battle lines and encampments, while the Emperor's other generals look on. Behind them, you see the Mir Areyh, a captain of noble cavalry, and George, the captain of a Mercenary Company of Heavy Infantry. As the Emperor's briefing continues, your vision seems to split in two. In the right half, a new scene appears. Here, your viewpoint is much closer to the battle table, as you sit upon someone's shoulders. To your left is the Rebel Empress, Jamal. Directly across from you is her General of Scouts, Cid, who is detailing both the Emperor's battle lines, as well as the strategems he has used to deceive the Emperor's scouts. The remaining sultans, emirs, and beys leading the rebel forces absorb his information. As both the Emperor's and Empress's briefings continue, the two halves of your vision pull apart from each other, and from a vantage point high in the sky you watch as two armies battle each other. As the line of battle flows back and forth, first one side, then the other, gaining momentary advantages, you become aware that the two battle tents are now actually directing the battle, with messengers running in and out of the tents. Your visions fade before the outcome of the battles is determined. A civil war is a war between organized groups within the same nation state or republic, or, less commonly, between two countries created from a formerly united nation state. The aim of one side may be to take control of the country or a region, to achieve independence for a region, or to change government policies. The term is a calque of the Latin bellum civile which was used to refer to the various civil wars of the Roman Republic in the 1st century BC. A civil war is a high-intensity conflict, often involving regular armed forces, that is sustained, organized and large-scale. Civil wars may result in large numbers of casualties and the consumption of significant resources. Civil wars since the end of World War II have lasted on average just over four years, a dramatic rise from the one-and-a-half year average of the 1900-1944 period. While the rate of emergence of new civil wars has been relatively steady since the mid-19th century, the increasing length of those wars resulted in increasing numbers of wars ongoing at any one time. For example, there were no more than five civil wars underway simultaneously in the first half of the 20th century, while over 20 concurrent civil wars were occurring at the end of the Cold War, before a significant decrease as conflicts strongly associated with the superpower rivalry came to an end. Since 1945, civil wars have resulted in the deaths of over 25 million people, as well as the forced displacement of millions more. Civil wars have further resulted in economic collapse; Somalia, Burma (Myanmar), Uganda and Angola are examples of nations that were considered to have promising futures before being engulfed in civil wars. Dec 29, 2008 - Present The civil war is a game mode which you fight monkeys instead of bloons! It can be turned on the same way as reverse or quick start. Civil War: 1v1 by Pulicat Important! User-Enforced Rules / Known Issues * Engineers are mobile factories but they are only allowed to place fortifications, entrenchments, pontoon bridges, and torpedoes. They are not allowed to raise troops or supplies. This is a user-enforced rule that can't be implemented in the engine yet. * Because TripleA will not allow a water space to be part of more than one canal (a flaw in the current engine), the following canals must be user-enforced: "Mississippi River Upper 2"--"Mississippi River Lower 1" is controlled by Cairo; "Mississippi River Lower 1"--"Mississippi River Lower 2" is controlled by New Madrid and Island Number 10; "Mississippi River Lower 3"--"Arkansas River Lower" is controlled by Fort Hindman Railroad lines are marked on the map as dotted lines connecting the railroad stations. Two stations are considered connected if there exists a direct dotted line path between them. Trains may move between stations only if: 1) Friendly powers own the two territories to which the stations belong. 2) Friendly powers own the territories through which the rail line passes. You must have control of a rail on at the beginning of your turn in order to use it. * Optional rule: Players may agree to edit-delete all enemy trains in a station if the city is captured. Turn Order -Non-Combat Move -Purchase -Place -Combat Move -Endturn Note: Movement counters reset after Non-Combat move! For example, an Infantry may move 1 during Noncom and then 1 again during Combat Move! In other words, you get an extra move if you are moving through friendly territory first. Unit Clarifications -Unit Chart located on upper right corner of map. TC stands for transport cost or transport capacity. -Both sides have Improved Artillery Support tech. Blockade Some sea zones have circular flags with little round number markers next them. These are blockade zones. The player(s) indicated by the flags recieves the indicated number of PUs from that sea zone each turn if no enemy ships are present. This is different from regular convoy zones or convoy routes because you must have a ship present in the blockade zones in order to deny the enemy production. The Civil War was a Marvel Comics crossover event, and features the storyline of a war between superheroes. A civil war was a conflict internal to a culture, society, nation, or other political community. The humanoid life forms of the planet Cheron destroyed their cities and killed each other off in a civil war and then made life uninhabitable to humanoid life forms, on that planet, some time prior to 2268. (TOS: "Let That Be Your Last Battlefield" ) In 2358, a civil war broke out on Parada II that lasted for the next twelve years. (DS9: "Whispers") The Mordanites of Mordan IV began a civil war that lasted forty years, due to Commander Mark Jameson supplying weapons to Karnas' rivals in 2319. (TNG: "Too Short a Season" ) After the Cardassian withdrawal from Bajor in 2369, factions previously united in fighting the Cardasssians resumed old conflicts. Kira Nerys believed this would lead to the fall of the Bajoran Provisional Government and a civil war, which could only be prevented by Kai Opaka. (DS9: "Emissary") Later that year a dispute between two Bajoran factions, the Paqu and Navot, could have led to a civil war but was solved by mediator Benjamin Sisko. (DS9: "The Storyteller") In 2371, a dispute over soil reclamators involving Shakaar Edon again threatened to escalate into a Bajoran civil war, though the crisis was ended by Shakaar becoming first minister. (DS9: "Shakaar") Benjamin Sisko believed a civil war would erupt within Starfleet and the Federation if the USS Lakota destroyed the USS Defiant in 2372. (DS9: "Paradise Lost") The Civil War in the PPC occured in the mid-1970s HST, and was the event which finally split the Organisation away from its roots on Origin. In 1863, at the height of the Civil War, a time pirate infected with the TX-90 virus crash-landed in Mississippi. The effects of the virus turned the pirate into a zombie-like creature, and he in turn spread the virus to a group of Confederate soldiers who found his crashed vessel. When the Legends arrived to answer the pirate's distress beacon, they encountered Union army dispatch Henry Scott, who was being chased by a group of the infected. Though the Legends easily defeated the zombies, Scott was mortally wounded in the process, and with his dying breath he tasked the team with his mission of stealing secret Confederate battle plans from the Collins Plantation. Mick Rory was also wounded in the battle, having been bitten by one of the infected soldiers, and he was taken aboard the Waverider for medical treatment. While Ray Palmer and Martin Stein worked to create a vaccine to combat the effects of the virus, Jefferson Jackson volunteered to go to the Collins Plantation in Scott's stead, in order to prevent the aberration in the timeline that would occur should the Confederate battle plans not be delivered to General Ulysses S. Grant. Sara Lance determined that the mission was too dangerous for him to attempt alone, and thus sent Amaya Jiwe with Jackson as a precaution. Lance, meanwhile, sought to warn General Grant of the impending zombie threat, and along with Nate Heywood she traveled to the Union army camp in order to prevent further damage to the timeline. Though Grant was initially doubtful of their claims of undead soldiers, he quickly changed his mind when Lance deposited the head of a zombie as proof on a table in his tent. With an entire army of the infected within half a mile of the Union camp, Grant ordered his soldiers to guard the perimeter while he, Lance, and Heywood attempted to come up with a plan. Jackson and Jiwe managed to reach the plantation in time to see Daniel Collins whip one of his slaves for being disobedient. Jiwe wanted to intervene, but Jackson insisted that they remain hidden behind a nearby tree in case rescuing the slave caused further damage to the timeline. Under the cover of nightfall, Jackson proceeded to disguise himself as a slave in order to infiltrate the plantation house during a party without arousing suspicion. He first searched through Collins' private study, but came up empty-handed. As he was about to search the rest of the house, however, Jackson bumped into one of the party guests in front of Collins himself. Thinking that Jackson was an insubordinate slave, Collins had him chained up in a barn outside, alongside other slaves whom he had deemed disobedient. Having lost contact with Jackson over their communication devices, Jiwe entered the house, and was almost immediately confronted by one of Collins' men. Remarking on how beautiful she was, he led her out to the barn where Jackson was being held so that she could be tied up for Collins to have his way with later that night. As soon as she saw Jackson, Jiwe activated her powers and knocked out Collins' man. After Jackson was freed, he urged Jiwe to free the others imprisoned in the barn as well; though Jiwe initially protested, as she felt doing so would damage the timeline as Jackson himself had warned before, she eventually consented when he proclaimed that the enslavement of African Americans was the 'real aberration'. Together, they freed the slaves, and Jiwe led the majority of them to safety while Jackson returned to the plantation house with one of the slaves who claimed to know where Collins had hidden the Confederate plans. The zombie soldiers, meanwhile, had reached the plantation, and had proceeded to attack the guests inside the house. Jackson and the slave encountered Collins by a staircase, where he was attempting to fight off the horde with his firearms. Jackson offered to help if Collins would give him a weapon, but Collins refused, saying that he would never arm one of his slaves. He was subsequently killed by the zombies and eaten alive while Jackson and the slave escaped to safety upstairs with the battle plans. Jackson proceeded to drop a lit oil lamp on the swarm of the undead below, causing the house to erupt in flames; with the zombies burned to a crisp, Jackson and his companion returned outside to meet up wit Jiwe and the others, and together they took a moment of satisfaction in the destruction of the plantation house as a symbol of slavery. At the Union camp, General Grant's men were quickly running out of ammunition against the onslaught of the undead. After seeing a crate containing nitroglycerin in Grant's tent, Lance devised a plan to use the compound to create an explosion. While the Union soldiers continued to draw the attention of the zombies, Lance was able to get one of the nitroglycerin crates into the middle of an open field. Heywood struck a flare and drew the attention of the zombies, leading them to the crate. When they began to attack him, he activated his powers and used the flare to ignite the nitroglycerin, creating a blast that destroyed all of the attacking zombies. His powers saved him from the explosion, and he was found alive and well underneath the pile of bodies, albeit covered in blood and guts from the infected soldiers. Still aboard the Waverider, Palmer and Stein managed to create an effective aerosol antidote to the TX-90, which they used to cure a Rory. The Legends proceeded to spread throughout the infected areas of Mississippi, undoing the damage done by the virus. Jackson delivered the Confederate battle plans to General Grant, and introduced himself as Henry Scott, preserving the legacy of the Union hero in the timeline. A civil war was a war within an individual state or within one species. A civil war is a form of warfare known for its kindness and civility, in stark contrast to the other tactics such as scorched earth which are entirely too dirty for upstanding gentlemen. Civil warfare is a strategy that has outlasted many minor fads in warfare such as Germany's Blitzkrieg Bop, the British Redcoat's Stand In a Line and Shoot or the French Foreign Legion's Surrender. Its longevity as a tactic can probably be attributed to a few things, namely the incompetence of modern military tacticians compared to those of the past and the universal human need for cordial smiles and small talk, even during battle. Civil War is the fifteenth episode of the thirteenth season and the 284th overall episode of Grey's Anatomy. A civil war is a war in which parties within the same culture, society or nationality fight against each other for the control of political power. Political scientists use two criteria: the warring groups must be from the same country and fighting for control of the political center, control over a separatist state or to force a major change in policy. The second criterion is that at least 1,000 people must have been killed in total, with at least 100 from each side.[1] Some civil wars are categorized as revolutions when major societal restructuring is a possible outcome of the conflict. An insurgency, whether successful or not, is likely to be classified as a civil war by some historians if, and only if, organized armies fight conventional battles. Other historians state the criterion for a civil war is that there must be prolonged violence between organized factions or defined regions of a country (conventionally fought or not). Ultimately the distinction between a "civil war" and a "revolution" or any other name may be arbitrary, and is determined by usage. However the distinction between a "civil war" and "revolution" can be recognizable. The successful civil war of the 1640s in England which led to the (temporary) overthrow of the monarchy became known as the English Civil War, which can be described, by Marxists and some historians, as the English Revolution. The successful insurgency of the 1770s in British colonies in America, with organized armies fighting battles, came to be known as the American Revolution. In the United States, and in American-dominated sources, the term 'the civil war' usually means the American Civil War, with other civil wars noted or inferred from context. Factors such as nationalism, religion, and ideology played little role in pre-modern civil wars. Modern nationalists have commonly read past revolts (such as Scotland against England or Catalonia against Spain) as early stirrings of nationalism, the truth is that these conflicts were in fact feudal or dynastic rather than national. There are some pre-modern civil wars that can be seen as fueled by religion (the Jewish Revolts against Rome), but these can also be seen as revolts by a servile people against their oppressors or uprisings by local notables in an attempt to gain independence. A civil war is "a violent conflict within a country fought by organized groups that aim to take power at the center or in a region, or to change government policies".[2] Currently, no consensus definition of civil war is available as the everyday usage of the term does not entail a clear threshold for how much violence is necessary to qualify a conflict as a civil war, as opposed to terrorism or low-level political strife. Most political scientists use a threshold of at least 1,000 killed over the course of a conflict. Note however that other social scientists consider this casualty number rather low and prefer for instance a definition of an average of 1,000 people killed per year. Premodern Civil Wars Religious conflicts Civil wars that are fought over religion have tended to occur more in monotheistic than in polytheistic societies; one explanation is that the latter tend to be more "flexible" in terms of dogma, allowing for some latitude in belief. In Europe through the Middle Ages, the Christianity of the great bulk of the population was influenced by pagan tradition. With the great majority of the population illiterate, access to the Bible was limited and led to a significant amount of syncretism between Christian and pagan elements. With religion so loosely applied, it was rare for people to feel particularly oppressed by it. There were periodic appearances of heresies, such as that of the Albigensians, which led to violence, but historians tend to view these to be the product of peasant revolts rather than themselves motivators of a civil war. As religions tended to become more rigidly defined and understood by their followers, inter-religious tensions generally increased. The rise of Islam witnessed a rash of uprisings against non-Islamic rulers soon after its appearance. Subsequent Islamic history has been marked by repeated civil conflicts, mostly stemming out of the Shi'ite-Sunni divide. In Europe the Protestant Reformation had a similar effect, sparking years of both civil and international wars of religion. Civil wars between Roman Catholicism and Protestantism consumed France in the Wars of Religion, the Netherlands during the Eighty Years' War, Germany during the Thirty Years' War, and more recently, The Troubles of Northern Ireland. Religious disputes among Protestant sects also played a role in the English Civil Wars, while official persecution of Catholics during the French Revolution spurred the Revolt in the Vendée. In China an attempt at religious revolution caused the bloodiest civil war of all time, the Taiping Rebellion. Revolutions A revolution is generally seen as a civil war fought over issues of ideology, over how power should be organized and distributed, not merely over which individuals hold it. The classic example of a revolution, and by some arguments the first is the French Revolution, which is seen to have pitted the middle class and urban poor of France against the aristocracy and monarchy. Some argue that revolutions are a modern continuation of the peasant revolts of the past. Unlike peasant revolts, however, revolutions are almost always led by members of the educated, but disaffected, middle class who then rally the large mass of the population to their cause. Others see ideology as merely replacing religion as a justification and motivation for violence that is fundamentally caused by socioeconomic factors. To be successful revolutions almost always require use of armed force and sometimes escalate to a civil war, such as in the Chinese Civil War. In some cases, such as the French and Russian Revolutions the revolutionaries succeed in gaining power through a quick coup or localized uprising, but a civil war results from counterrevolutionary forces organizing to crush the revolution. Separatist revolts One of the most common causes of civil wars, especially in the post-Cold War world has been separatist violence. Nationalism can be seen as similar to both a religion and an ideology as a justification for war rather than a root cause of conflict. All modern states attempt to hold a monopoly on internal military force. For separatist civil wars to break out thus either the national army must fracture along ethnic, religious, or national lines as happened in Yugoslavia; or more commonly a modern separatist conflict takes the form of asymmetrical warfare with separatists lightly armed and disorganized, but with the support of the local population such groups can be hard to defeat. This is the route taken by most liberation groups in colonies, as well as forces in areas such as Eritrea and Sri Lanka. Regional differences may be enhanced by differing economies, as in the American Civil War. National minorities are also often minorities and wars of religion may link closely into separatisty conflicts. Coups Coups d'état, in Spanish golpes de estado, are by definition quick blows to the top of a government that do not result in the widespread violence of a civil war. On occasion a failed coup, or one that is only half successful, can precipitate a civil war between factions. These wars often quickly try to pull in larger themes of ideology, nationalism, or religion to try to win supporters among the general population for a conflict that in essence is an intraelite competition for power. Reasons for war Almost every nation has minority groups, religious plurality, and ideological divisions, but not all plunge into civil war. Sociologists have long searched for what variables trigger civil wars. In the modern world most civil wars occur in nations that are poor, autocratic, and regionally divided. However, the United States was one of the wealthiest and most democratic countries in the world at the time of its bloody civil war. Some models to explain the occurrence of civil wars stress the importance of change and transition. According to one such line of reasoning, the American Civil War was caused by the growing economic power of the North relative to the South; the Lebanese Civil War by the upsetting of the delicate demographic balance by the increase in the Shi'ite population; the English Civil War by the growing power of the middle class and merchants at the expense of the aristocracy. Competition for resources and wealth within a society is seen as a frequent cause for civil wars, however economic gain is rarely the justification espoused by the participants. Marxist historians stress economic and class factors arguing that civil wars are caused by imperialist rulers battling each other for greater power, and using tools such as nationalism and religion to delude people into joining them. Also, recent evidence proved that the violence observed in civil war can come from spurious reasons. Not only are the causes of civil wars widely studied and debated, but their persistence is also seen as an important issue. Many civil wars have proved especially intractable, dragging on for many decades. One contributing factor is that civil wars often become proxy wars for outside powers that fund their partisans and thus encourage further violence. Research related to the democratic war theory have studied civil wars and democracy. Research shows that the most democratic and the most authoritarian states have few civil wars, and intermediate regimes the most. The probability for a civil war is also increased by political change, regardless whether toward greater democracy or greater autocracy. Intermediate regimes continue to be the most prone to civil war, regardless of the time since the political change. In the long run, since intermediate regimes are less stable than autocracies, which in turn are less stable than democracies, durable democracy is the most probable end-point of the process of democratization [3]. The fall of Communism and the increase in the number of democratic states were accompanied by a sudden and dramatic decline in total warfare, interstate wars, ethnic wars, revolutionary wars, and the number of refugees and displaced persons [4]. Post war Rebuilding a society in the wake of a civil war is often quite difficult. In an international war the two parties merely have to agree to a cease-fire and can, for the most part, go their own way. In a civil war not only must violence stop but the factions involved must also learn to coexist with each other. This can often prove difficult, as much of the population will have lost friends or loved ones in the war—losses which they blame on their opponents. Civil wars also tend to greatly entrench any ethnic, religious, or ideological divisions within a society and restoring unity can be very difficult. The record of United Nations peacekeeping forces in healing such war-torn societies is mixed Civil War was a battle between the super heroes that started because the Young Avengers were blamed for causing an explosion that destroyed the Empire State building. Civil War is the 13th episode of Season 2, and is episode 35 of the full 210 episodes for the entire series. In this episode, Frank and his friend Harry recruit Ray and Robert to join them in a Civil War reenactment. But things don't go quite as planned. A civil war is an conflict internal to a culture, society, nation, or other political community. Bajor was on the verge of civil war several times but a solution was often found. (DS9: "Emissary", "The Storyteller", "Shakaar") Benjamin Sisko believed a civil war would erupt between the Federation and Starfleet if the USS Lakota destroyed the USS Defiant in 2372.
