The Alamo The Alamo The Alamo
rdfs:comment
The Alamo The Alamo was the 13th episode (out of 30) produced and released for The Time Tunnel. The Alamo is a former Roman Catholic mission and fortress compound in San Antonio, Texas. It was the site of the Battle of the Alamo in 1836. When flying the Time Jumper on Arkhan's World, Brigadier General Jack O'Neill asked Lt. Colonel Samantha Carter "How do we know we're not gonna end up back at the Alamo?" She pointed out that it is on Earth for one and she disconnected the time device. (SG1: "It's Good to Be King") Before the Siege of Atlantis, Dr. Rodney McKay said "What was that we were supposed to all remember? Something important. Oh, yes, that's right—the Alamo." (SGA: "The Gift") The Great War was merciful to the town surrounding the Alamo, San Antonio. Only one bomb fell, blasting the northern part of the town into a crater. The Alamo itself by chance, was completely untouched. About fifty years after the end of the War, the Brotherhood of Steel moved in, making it their main base of operations for Texas. (DS9: "Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang") When Julian Bashir and Miles O'Brien asked Vic Fontaine to participate in their Alamo holosuite program in 2374, Vic recalled that the film had great battle scenes and nice sets but that it was "way too long". (DS9 episode: "Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang") The Alamo is a former Roman Catholic mission and fortress in San Antonio famous for the 1836 military conflict known as The Battle of The Alamo between Texan and Mexican forces. Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie, and the Texas militia try to defend the Alamo from general Santa Anna. The Alamo (Spanish: álamo; refering to the genus Populus, i.e cottonwood or poplar trees) is a former Spanish mission located in downtown San Antonio, Texas, and was an abandoned ruin when it was used as a fortification in 1836 by colonists against the harsh rule of dictator Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna; the resulting seige and massacre of the 189 men within led to Santa Anna's defeat at San Jacinto a short time later and the creation of the independent Republic of Texas.
