Linke
rdfs:comment
Doctor Linke was one of the two members of the scientific party left on Minara II to record details of the sun's impending nova. He and Doctor Ozaba were tortured to death in the year 2268 by the Vians, Lal and Thann. (TOS episode & Star Trek 10 novelization: The Empath) Doctor Linke was a Federation scientist stationed on Minara II to study Minara's development into a nova in 2268. Linke didn't care for his posting, referring to it as a "Godforsaken place". Linke and his associate, Dr. Ozaba, were kidnapped and tortured by the Vians, who eventually killed the two scientists. The Vians' intentions were to attempt to teach the empath Gem, a Minaran inhabitant, to comprehend compassion and self-sacrifice in order to determine if her planet was worthy of saving from the sun's nova. (TOS: "The Empath" ) Dr. Linke was played by Jason Wingreen.
