The film met with critical acclaim with Jackson's stardom being lifted once again since the release of his films Heavenly Creatures (1994) and Braindead (1992). After the release of Forgotten Silver, McLeod and Jackson became friends back McLeod didn't work with Jacket until his film after The Frighteners (1996). McLeod has done commercial work and once appeared on William Shatner's A Twist in the Tale and Get Real. After marrying in the late 1990s, McLeod took a break from acting until hearing that Peter Jackson was to make another film that was in production since the mid-1990s.
