He attended Sandbach School for Boys, going on to train at the Cheshire School of Performing Arts in Ellesmere Port and was also a member of both the Chester Gateway Youth Theatre and Manchester Youth Theatre.

Probably best known in the role of Munch Wilkinson in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, his other credits include roles in The Liver Birds, Dangerfield, Heartbeat, The Lakes, Smack the Pony, Holby City, The Bill, Mersey Beat, Grease Monkeys, Casualty, After You've Gone and Emmerdale. He has also appeared in several films including DragonHeart, Daylight, The Fourth Angel, Large, Crust, Alien Autopsy and Harry Brown.
