rdfs:comment
Steven Berkoff (born 3 August 1937) is an English actor, author, playwright and theater director. As an actor, he is best known for his performances in villainous roles, such as Lt. Col Podovsky in Rambo: First Blood Part II, General Orlov in the James Bond film Octopussy, Victor Maitland in Beverly Hills Cop and Adolf Hitler in the TV mini-series War and Remembrance. He has appeared in motion pictures such as Rambo: First Blood Part II as Col. Podovsky (which also starred Charles Napier and Julia Nickson-Soul), Beverly Hills Cop as Victor Maitland (co-starring Ronny Cox, Michael Champion, Jonathan Banks and Doug Warhit), Octopussy as General Orlov (with Vijay Amritraj), and as Tom in A Clockwork Orange, with Malcolm McDowell, who also happens to be the uncle of Alexander Siddig, who starred as (Julian Bashir) on Deep Space Nine and directed "Business as Usual." In 2001 he was one of the actors in the film In the Beginning; in the same film were also Star Trek actors William O. Campbell and David Warner. Steven starred as the 15th century Italian renegade monk Savonarola in both the 1990 film A Season of Giants and the 2011 television seriesThe Borgias. As a young man, Berkoff enjoyed photography and often photographed the unique sights in London, compiled in East End Photographs, a collection of the pictures. Berkoff enjoyed some brief success in such famous Stanley Kubrick pictures as A Clockwork Orange and Barry Lyndon, but Berkoff knew his calling was theatre, which he wanted to start very badly. Luckily, when his villainous roles in three Hollywood blockbusters were praised and successful, he made enough money to finally go into theater, his dream career. These three roles included General Orlov in the James Bond film Octopussy and Victor Maitland in Beverly Hills Cop. Berkoff also portrayed Adolf Hitler in the epic mini-series War and Remembrance.
