Esme inform Farmer that she received a call from the police that they're we're wild dogs attack and the other farm owned by the Mitchells has lost 6 lambs that morning and asked him what he was trying to kill Babe and telling him it was the wild dogs who caused Maa's death. Maa's death devastated the other Hoggett's animals including Ferdinand when they heard this from Fly. Farmer Hoggett soon discovers Babe has a gift, and can do a sheep dog work (in fact, Babe gets the sheep to get in and out of fences by asking politely) and trains him as a sheep dog. The farmer is taken for a madman untils Babe prooves himself in a sheep dog contest having couraged by Rex and makes a perfect score. In their victory, Hoggett simply says, with a smile: \"That'll do, pig. That'll do.\" and Babe sighs happily.
