Ta'a Chume never gave up her dream of getting the throne back, though, and arranged for Teneniel and her granddaughter Tenel Ka Djo to be assassinated. In the end, she failed to get the throne back; her second daughter-in-law Queen Mother Loralia was able to hold onto the throne, despite some difficulties with various nobles. Ta'a Chume became the Queen Mother upon the death of her own mother, Ni'Korish, in 24 BBY. Much like Ni'Korish, Ta'a Chume hated the Jedi, and anybody who could threaten her own rule of the Hapes Consortium. She bore only sons, though - no daughters, and thus the ruler who would come after her would be the wife of her eldest son, Kalen. His fiancee, Elliar, was a woman that Ta'a Chume felt was too weak to be an effective ruler - and unlikely to continue the programs that Ta'a Chume had started or continued to keep hated opponents weakened. She arranged for the deaths of both Elliar and Kalen, and then tried to find an appropriate wife for her younger son, Isolder. Princess Leia of the now destroyed Alderaan was, briefly, an option, but Ta'a Chume decided against her and characteristically plotted for her assassination. This assassination attempt failed, and ultimately resulted in Isolder meeting and falling in love with Teneniel Djo. With too much evidence against her for the deaths of Kalen and Elliar and the attempted assassination of Leia, Ta'a Chume had no choice but to go along with Isolder's decision. Teneniel forced Ta'a Chume to step down in 10 ABY, shortly after the birth of Teneniel's daughter, Tenel Ka. Ta'a Chume tried to influence Tenel Ka, but the girl was too stubborn as well as strong in the Force. Eventually, Ta'a Chume gave up and waited for the next generation. In 30 ABY, Tenel Ka married another Jedi Knight, Jacen Solo. Their daughter Allana was born the following year. Ta'a Chume saw her opportunity when Jacen and Tenel Ka divorced and Jacen returned to Coruscant. Tenel Ka, if she was to continue her work as a Jedi Knight, would have to leave her daughter in the care of nannies and relatives for sometimes weeks at a time, because Allana was too young to go. Ta'a Chume took an active role in Allana's upbringing. She pampered the little girl and gave her everything she asked for, all the while subtly turning her against the simpler Dathomiri ways and grooming her for a future in the Hapan court. In 37 ABY, Ta'a Chume made her move: she planned to kill Teneniel, Isolder, and Tenel Ka, leaving Allana as heiress to the Hapan throne. Because Allana was only six, she would need someone to rule in her place, and Ta'a Chume would not only temporarily get the throne back, but would also have about ten years to turn Allana into a younger version of herself. The assassination attempt, however, only killed Teneniel. Tenel Ka claimed the throne. She also faked Allana's death and sent Allana to Coruscant to live with Jacen, and Ta'a Chume believed that her best chance at reclaiming the throne was gone. She waited another six years, and then put a three million credit price on Tenel Ka's head. Several bounty hunters and assassins stepped up to the challenge, and Boba Fett succeeded in killing Tenel Ka, although he himself did not survive the fight. Ta'a Chume was once again thwarted, this time by Isolder's second wife, Loralia, who took the throne before Ta'a Chume could. Ta'a Chume later learned that Allana was alive, but because Allana had no interest in going home to Hapes and to hurt her would call forth the ire of several Jedi in her family, Ta'a Chume left her alone. As of 48 ABY she was still waiting for another opportunity to return."@en . "Red-gold"@en . "1.7m"@en . "Hapes"@en . "Female"@en . . . . . "Ta'a Chume (CABE 'verse)"@en . "c. 45 BBY"@en . .
