The PUMPKIN! is an unusual type of minion of the Thing. It is only found in one room that can only be accessed if the player has all four keychains. The PUMPKIN!s can be found in large numbers when attacking organics. Pumpkins are the main enemies in SPISPOPD and appear in several variations, the most common being the Baby Pumpkin, a variation of which appears in every world. In Dr. Lunatic, Pumpkins appear in the Keychain levels of the original worlds.

Because Dr. L was so different from SPISPOPD, and didn't even contain Pumpkins at all, I came up with the idea of the keychains, and having them lead to a secret level filled with pumpkins to bring back memories. I tried to make their ability similar to SPISPOPD, where they wiggled wildly at random and sucked your life away on contact. But I made it a little less screwy. The sound they make on death is the sound Ice Pumpkins made in the original SPISPOPD. As Sol Hunt says "It's just so satisfying!"
