Vice Admiral Vice Admiral Vice Admiral Vice admiral
rdfs:comment
Vice Admiral is a flag officer rank of the UNSC Navy, equivalent with the rank of Lieutenant General in the UNSC Marine Corps, UNSC Air Force, and UNSC Army. Vice Admirals generally command the numbered fleets around UNSC controlled space, and are in charge of the naval components of each of the regional unified commands. Of the five numbered fleets, four have command ships which act as the Vice Admiral's flagship. Vice admiral was a military rank, the equivalent of which was used by the service organizations of many civilizations. As a traditional grade, vice admiral was a flag officer falling superior to a rear admiral and below a full admiral of a naval organization. This rank was used by Starfleet, in which vice admirals commanded entire fleets of vessels, divisions at Starfleet Headquarters, starbases, and other senior positions in the fleet. In comparison to other ranking systems, this rank was equivalent to the army lieutenant general rank or (approximately) the Cardassian Union's quasi-military rank of legate. Vice Admiral was a military rank. Vice Admiral was a medium-grade flag rank common to almost all space navies across the galaxy as well as other types of forces. Highly-experienced officers, they were commonly assigned to lead medium- to large-sized fleets of capital ships, usually including at least one large command vessel. Holders of the rank were also frequently charged with overseeing sector commands, or else serving as executive officers to major Navy department heads. Vice Admiral is a common flag commissioned officer rank in the Standard-speaking universe's navies. Vice Admiral is the third highest rank in the Marines. These officers can have varying duties and amounts of authority. For example, one vice admiral, John Giant, is seen to have some special authority, as he was the first in the entire Marine Headquarters to receive the report of the Buster Call and could also evidently command other vice admirals to dispatch. There are always at least five vice admirals sent with a Buster Call fleet. Vice admiral (also known as three star admiral) is a rank of flag officer in naval services and space forces, most notably Earth Starfleet and its Federation counterpart. Vice admiral is the midlevel flag officer rank, a grade higher than a rear admiral and a grade below four star admiral and other admiral grades in most rank structures. This rank is roughly equivalent with the authority of a lieutenant general of military forces. (ST reference: Star Trek Encyclopedia) In military parlance, is it acceptable and normal to refer to a vice admiral simply as "admiral" in most forms of address. Vice Admiral is the second highest flag officer rank, above Rear Admiral and below Admiral. Vice Admirals are flag officers with a specific mandate, such as a large area of space or a subsection of a division. They may also command task forces. Vice Admirals share the same collar insignia as all admirals, and are so denoted by the brown and white piping on their uniforms. A Vice Admiral is a naval rank equivalent to Lieutenant General in seniority. A Vice Admiral is typically senior to a Rear Admiral and junior to an Admiral. Within the Republic Marines, Vice Admiral was the highest rank attainable, with only one individual holding it at a given time. This person also held the title of Commandant of the Marines, and could only be granted the post through an appointment by the Galactic Senate. Vice Admiral is a flag officer rank falling above Rear Admiral and below Admiral in the Lexington's fleet (which has one Vice Admiral in High Command). Vice Admirals commanded entire fleets of vessels, divisions at Starfleet Headquarters, or starbases. They may also hold other senior positions in the fleet, including Commanding Officer of their own starship. Vice Admiral is a flag officer rank, senior to a rear admiral but junior to admiral. It is equivalent to the rank of lieutenant general. Officers holding the rank of vice admiral are sometimes referred to as "three-stars" (USS Baldwin: "The Find") The Hydran equivalent to a vice admiral is a second admiral. (RIS Bouteina: "High Priestess of Evacuation") The Rihan translation for the rank was erei'enriov. (Bait and Switch: Saith Daepahr hrrafv Llaiirevha glossary) Vice admiral is a senior naval flag officer rank, which is equivalent to lieutenant general and air marshal. A vice admiral is typically senior to a rear admiral and junior to an admiral. In many navies, vice admiral is a three-star rank with a NATO Code of OF-8, although in some navies like the French Navy it is an OF-7 rank, the OF-8 code corresponding to the four-star rank of squadron vice-admiral. The general attire of a vice admiral is that of a Marine coat with epaulets and a suit and tie worn underneath. The only vice admiral to wear an attire different from others is, again, John Giant, who wears a gold and red uniform with a strain of medals on his chest, and later Smoker who keeps his current marine jacket, only adding to it the standard marine coat. While most vice admirals wear standard blue epaulets, Garp wears black and red, while Tsuru wears purple. In the Starfleet uniform insignia introduced in the mid-24th century, a vice admiral wore a triangular rank braid with two pips underneath as their service uniform rank insignia. (TNG episode: "Conspiracy") The correlation between this third admiral rank and the uniform insignia worn in TNG season 1 is because other admirals were shown wearing lower rank insignia, and the single braid insignia was the most basic one shown. In a redesign of the admiral's service uniforms of 2365 and 2366, a new insignia of three gold pips enclosed in a rectangular gold border was worn by vice admirals, showing the origin of the "three star" name. This insignia continued into later uniform designs of the 2370s. (ST reference: Star Trek Encyclopedia; TNG episode: "The Measure of a Man") Vice Admiral is a military rank, the equivalent of which was used by the service organizations of many civilizations. In Romulan militaries the equivalent rank was named "erei'enriov" in Rihan. Ein Vice Admiral (dt. "Vizeadmiral") ist ein Admirals-Rang, der traditionell von Marinen der Erde ab dem 16. Vice Admirals generally command the numbered fleets around UNSC controlled space, and are in charge of the naval components of each of the regional unified commands. Of the five numbered fleets, four have command ships which act as the Vice Admiral's flagship. In informal settings, Vice Admirals are typically referred to simply as "Admiral," but may be also referred to as a "three-star Admiral" to distinguish it from the other ranks of Admiral, so named for the three star rank insignia worn on the uniform. In the early 22nd century, Starfleet vice admirals (such as Maxwell Forrest) were denoted by three rank insignia enclosed in a rectangular frame, worn on both sides of a uniform jacket. These officers also had a series of rank stripes on their sleeve, a group of five stripes (four in a group, and one separate towards the cuff). (ENT: "Broken Bow") By 2161, the sleeve stripes had changed to be more in line with the style used in the 2260s. An unnamed vice admiral at the signing of the Federation Charter wore a solid white/grey stripe with silver braiding (about three standard stripes wide), flanked by two single stripes of a similar material (one above and one below). (ENT: "These Are the Voyages...") In 2263 of the alternate reality, Captain James T. Kirk had considered leaving the USS Enterprise and applied for a Vice admiral position at Starbase Yorktown. Following the Attack on Yorktown and the death of Krall, Kirk was offered the promotion in honor of his heroics. He ultimately turned it down in favor of continuing to command a starship. (Star Trek Beyond) In the subsequent Federation fleets, vice admirals (like Fitzpatrick) were again denoted by sleeve stripes, this time signified by a similar insignia, one solid gold band (about three stripes wide, worn by the rank of Commodore) of braid, and two additional stripes separate, above and below. (TOS: "The Trouble with Tribbles" ) By the Starfleet uniform design of the 2280s, all officers wore their insignia as a pin device attached to the shoulder on the jacket clasp. The vice admiral pin was a small round field with four gold arrowheads arranged pointing towards a gold pip in the center, and was accompanied by an embroidered sleeve stripe. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home) The rank insignia of the Star Trek films were created with detailed notes by Robert Fletcher. 24th century Starfleet ranks had vice admirals (such as Vice Admiral Aaron) wear one triangular admiral braid on their shoulders, with two rank pips beneath it. (TNG: "Conspiracy" ) Another redesign in the 2360s denoted vice admirals (like Vice Admiral Nakamura) by three gold rank pips surrounded by a rectangular frame. (TNG: "The Measure Of A Man" ) Vice Admiral is a flag rank used by Starfleet and the United States Navy. A Vice Admiral is a naval rank equivalent to Lieutenant General in seniority. A Vice Admiral is typically senior to a Rear Admiral and junior to an Admiral. Vice Admirals are addressed by rank and name, thereafter by subordinates as "Sir" or "Ma'am". The rank is usually abbreviated to "VAdm." or "VADM".
