The word Strigoi originates in medieval Romanian folklore. It is basically the standard form of an evil spirit. According to the stories, a vampire is a Strigoi possessing a bat, just like a werewolf is a Strigoi possessing a wolf. Strigoi also include ghosts, wights, banshees, wraiths, ghouls, zombies and other shades of undeath and all forms of lycanthropy. - A man or woman leading an evil life. - A man or woman not buried properly. For example, a person who has died in the woods or at sea and not found is most likely to become a Strigoi. When the prince of the Wallachia, prince Vlad III, died, there is a legend telling that because of his cruel and sadistic nature, he would certainly become a strigoi. Therefore, he was buried beneath the altar of a remote mountain monastary. Several years later, when his tomb was uncovered and opened once again, where the prince's earthly remains were supposed to lie was merely a pile of animal bones. In Romanian mythology, strigoi (English: striga, poltergeist)[1] are the troubled souls of the dead rising from the grave. Some strigoi can be living people with certain magical properties. Some of the properties of the strigoi include: the ability to transform into an animal, invisibility, and the propensity to drain the vitality of victims via blood loss. Strigoi are also known as immortal vampires. Originally sent by the Queen Mother to infiltrate a Halloween party disguised as a vampire, Strigoi was captured and forced to take part in the Zombieval. To begin with, he didn't want to reveal his true identity, but once in the arena, things quickly got out of hand and as we all know, desperate times call for desperate measures! Without fearing the repercussions, Strigoi deployed the full extent of his cybernetic weaponry, creating a Halloween-style bonfire in the arena! The Vampires of the other bloodlines play at being mortal and wear the robes of lords, knights, and princes, but underneath, the Vampire is purely a beast. There are those who lose themselves so much in their pretense that they forget this. The Strigoi have not forgotten and do not pretend. They embrace the beast within them, taking all the strength and fury the animal can give them. That strength is terrible to behold, and that fury knows no end.[1a] The Strigoi are the troubled souls of the dead rising from the grave. Some of the properties of the strigoi include: the ability to transform into an animal, invisibility, and the propensity to drain the vitality of victims via blood loss. Strigoi are also known as immortal vampires. Thes name is derived from strigă, which in Romanian meant "scream" or "barn owl", cognate with Italian strega, which means "witch", and descended from the Latin word strix, for owl. Strigoi viu is a living vampiric witch. Strigoi mort is a dead (undead) vampire. They are most often associated with vampires or zombies. According to Romanian mythology a strigoi has red hair, blue eyes and two hearts. The strigoi can change into a variety of animals, such as barn owls, bats, rats, cats, wolves, dogs, snakes, toads, lizards, and spiders/insects. They also have the ability to render themselves invisble. They're also konwn to be capable of creating damaging storms, blights, droughts, floods and even poltergeist activity. The strigoi in some accounts is also capable of a form of astral projection appearing as shadows, ghosts or will 'o the wisp. Strigoi are vampires that are distinguished from Moroi in many ways. They are undead, immortal, and are made instead of born. Jake encountered four individuals which were described as Strigoi.
