Later, Louise reminds Viv that she could withdraw her false alibi any time and Viv can't believe she's being blackmailed. Gennie miserably tells Paddy that she'll never be accepted as a Dingle and Paddy is sympathetic, having married into the family twice himself. Gennie sees an opportunity to impress her new family when a rep from Yorkshire Textiles turns up outside the burnt-out factory. Gennie introduces herself as Eric's assistant and takes her into the Dingles' barn where she secures a business deal for the Dingles in Eric's name. Laurel settles into being a mum to Arthur, but Gabby is still troubled by recent events. When they try to involve her in choosing a colour for Arthur's nursery, Gabby is sulky and asks to play outside in the garden. Rodney cheers up his granddaughter by revealing that he's written up the Rollercoaster Rod stories for her.
