In the Congressional election, which took place the same day, the Chilean right achieved great gains to shore up President Alessandri Besa's mandate. It was the last election in which the Liberal Renewal ran a candidate independently of the other conservative parties, and was the last election prior to the formation of the UDP by the PSDP and PDS.
