Alice, together with her friends Mary and Alice, were three merry women who found Alf Roberts pacing up and down the Street on New Year’s Eve 1979 having been ordered outside by the Rovers regular to be 1980’s first footer. The girls instantly grabbed him and dragged him along to a party at 32 Bessie Street where he got blindingly drunk and enticed Fred Gee along when he was sent to look for him. Fred, in turn, did the same with the other menfolk (with the exception of a strictly-controlled Stan Ogden) and all of their women were left to fester in the pub.
