  • The Emancipation Proclamation was a document proposed by President Abraham Lincoln. It made slavery illegal in the southern states, with no mandate on slavery in the North.
  • It proclaimed the freedom of slaves in ten states (excluding Tennessee). Because it was issued under the President's war powers, it necessarily excluded areas not in rebellion (Kentucky, Maryland, Delaware, and Missouri, West Virginia and the already occupied parishes within Louisiana) - it applied to more than 3 million of the 4 million slaves at the time. The Proclamation was based on the president's constitutional authority as commander in chief of the armed forces; it was not a law passed by Congress. The Proclamation did not compensate the owners, did not outlaw slavery, and did not grant citizenship to the ex-slaves (called freedmen). It made the eradication of slavery an explicit war goal, in addition to the goal of reuniting the Union.
  • The Emancipation Proclamation was Abraham Lincoln's declaration abolishing slavery, which most reliable sources will tell you caused most of America's problems. While it goes without saying that most of America's human property black friends were totally against it, a few hoity-toity "blacktellectuals" contacted their slaves in the liberal media — notably, the "New York Moonshiner", a liberal rag if there ever was one — and persuaded them to change all the history books to make it look like slavery had been a bad thing. Today, only a few brave souls like Ann Coulter dare to tell America the truth.
  • The Emancipation Proclamation is an item cut from the final version of Fallout 3. It consists of two executive orders issued by United States President Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War. The first one, issued September 22, 1862, declared the freedom of all slaves in any state of the Confederate States of America that did not return to Union control by January 1, 1863. The second order, issued January 1, 1863, named the specific states where it applied.

On the plus side, however, the Emacipation Proclamation indirectly led to one of the South's most cherished traditions, the Lynching Party. Yee-haw!

The second order, issued January 1, 1863, named the specific states where it applied. Originally, it could have been found by the Lone Wanderer at an unknown location and sold to Leroy Walker or Hannibal Hamlin for 150 caps.

It made the eradication of slavery an explicit war goal, in addition to the goal of reuniting the Union. Around 20,000 to 50,000 slaves in regions where rebellion had already been subdued were immediately emancipated. Universal emancipation in those places would come after separate state actions and/or the December 1865 ratification of the Constitution's Thirteenth Amendment, which made slavery and indentured servitude, except for those duly convicted of a crime, illegal everywhere subject to United States jurisdiction.
