The Mark 2499 Mobile Tactical Ballistic Missile, also simply known as the M2499 MTBM, was a tactical ballistic missile developed for the UNSC Army in 2499 as the Insurrection kicked into high gear. With a fear of United Nations Space Command forces being drawn into long urban combat with Insurrectionist forces, the UNSC Army announced its need for a tactical ballistic missile, the purpose of which would be for UNSC troops without air support to destroy rebel strongholds from a distance.
