The Reformation Party was a political party set up during the final decades of the Old Republic. It was set up as a response to the Republic's slowness to react to the Invasion of Naboo by the Trade Federation. The party was founded by Senator Wetam Nad, a native of Kuat, who was furious at the way the Senate did nothing to protect its planets. The party was unsuccessful in even gaining a nomination for Nad to become Supreme Chancellor after Finnis Valorum, the post instead going to a Naboo native, Palpatine. Over time, the party gained many members and its influence steadily increased. During the Clone Wars, the party was one of the many to grant Chancellor Palpatine emergency powers, increasing his dictatorial hold on the Republic. Eventually, Palpatine declared himself emperor. During the Clone Wars, the party was one of the many to grant Chancellor Palpatine emergency powers, increasing his dictatorial hold on the Republic. Eventually, Palpatine declared himself emperor. Originally, this did not worry the strictly anti-democracy Reformationists. However, their freedoms were restricted more and more over the next twenty years. Eventually, the party was forcibly dissolved along with all other parties in 0 BBY. After the Galactic Civil War, however, the party was reformed with Wetam Nad returning as its leader. The party frequently came second and third in the elections for Chancellors. Wetam Nad died in 29 ABY. After this, his son Jarms took control of the party until its final fragmentation in 67 ABY.
