Moxey was an offnsive standout with the junior Hamilton Red Wings from 1971-73 and was selected by the California Golden Seals 66th overall in the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft. Despite a strong training camp with the Seals, he was sent down to the minors in the 1973-74 season. Over the next four seasons Moxey did get called up to the Seals and their successor team the Cleveland Barons but could never stick with the big team. In 1977 he was traded to the Los Angeles Kings but could not make it there either. Millar retired in 1978.
