A prejudiced man with a hot-tempered commanding officer, he was well-placed to set off a major interplanetary incident by bringing plasma guns onto a space station and burning down the police station there. Miles Vorkosigan's thoughts regarding him included: "a brief, wistful fantasy of trading Brun for his men, and leaving Brun here, to the net benefit of the Emperor's Service".

She becomes unable to talk when under a great deal of stress and communicates via written notes. She loses her job and apartment when the building containing both catches fire in strip #3219.
