Bronwen Hughes (born October 17, 1967; age 50) is a Canadian film and television director who directed two episodes of 24: Legacy's first season. She is the first female to direct an episode of the show. She is the first female to direct an episode of the show. Hughes' feature film debut was Harriet the Spy (1996), based on the 1964 children's novel and starring Michelle Trachtenberg. Subsequently, Hughes directed the 1999 romantic comedy Forces of Nature (with Jack Kehler and Michael Cudlitz), and the 2003 crime drama Stander, starring Thomas Jane, based on the life of South African police officer turned bank robber AndrĂ© Stander. For the latter, Hughes was nominated for a Genie Award for Outstanding Achievement in Direction. Hughes has since worked extensively in television, directing episodes of The L Word (with Mia Kirshner), Breaking Bad (with Raymond Cruz and Dean Norris), Burn Notice, White Collar, Hung, and Hawaii Five-0, among others.
