A writing system was a methodology of portraying notions, concepts, or vocal sounds of a particular language. Writing could be on paper, datapad, or displayed on a viewscreen. Many of these systems were used throughout the galaxy, perhaps at least one written script for each language. Aurebesh was the formal and most common system for Galactic Basic. Naboo, although a Basic speaking member of the Republic, also alternatively utilized two separate systems: Futhark, used for formal designations such as on a starship's hull, and Futhork, used for informal writing.
