The Metal Storage is a level 1 structure in Total Annihilation available to both the ARM and the CORE. For each Metal Storage built, the player's metal stock capacity is increased by 1000. Conversely, each Metal Storage destroyed will reduce the player's metal stock capacity by 1000, and the excess metal is lost. The building is useful in storing excess metal for later use, especially considering metal production is generally much lower than that of energy.

- Metal Storage structures provide huge storage containment for raw unprocessed metal from metal mines. The higher the level, the more metal can be held. Once the capacity is used up, no more metal can be harvested by the metal mines.
