HyperCard is a software application and runtime environment first released by Apple Computer in 1987. It is notable for being the first well-known example of a development environment for user-created hypermedia, and inspired the creation of other, more recent applications including the World Wide Web and Java. HyperTalk was the scripting language that was used for the automation of links, gesture-based actions and animations. It is notable due to its plain-English syntax, akin to "take out garbage" or some other means of conveying instructions to HyperCard. This wiki hopes to cover both softwares, the functions which have been used in HyperCard and similar IDEs, and help today's generation understand the usage and influence of HyperTalk and HyperCard.
