- Valek was the captain of the Imperial Nebulon-B escort frigate Revenant during an attack on Communications Research Station Epsilon Nine in the Cron Drift in 4 ABY. Though Captain Valek commanded the vessel he served under the command of Lumiya, who was working in the name of Imperial Intelligence. The Revenant was only one part of Lumiya's fleet. Valek quickly deferred to Lumiya when she gave orders.

- Valek was a male Weequay Jedi Knight and a member of the Zonju V Jedi Academy. He was placed in charge of the Academy's defenses when the Reavers attacked. He was also killed when he sent a distress call and allowed for the message to show the Reavers in action.
- Jal Valek was the First Maje of the Kazon-Oglamar. In 2372, Loran was approached by Culluh of the Kazon-Nistrim, who wished to form an alliance to defeat USS Voyager and take its technology. Together with Maje Loran of the Kazon-Hobii and Maje Surat of the Kazon-Mostral he was invited to a briefing with Culluh aboard his Kazon raider. When Voyager located the Raider and attempted to free Commander Chakotay who had been held captive by Culluh and Seska, the four Majes were beamed aboard the Federation's ship's transporter room and only released after Chakotay had been recovered.
