Jaberiks were tall, ape-like bipeds created by the Masters of Lum to serve as foremen over their Baquin slaves. Though the Masters and Baquin both thought the Jaberiks to be slow-witted and brutish, they actually possessed near-human intelligence, and had secretly copied down everything they had learned from observing the Masters. When the Baquin revolted against the Masters, the Jaberiks refused to aid them, but also refused to aid the Masters, and when the Masters had been driven out, the Jaberiks proclaimed their independence, nearly leading to a second revolt. However, the two species managed to work out a compromise wherein the Baquin helped the Jaberiks to resettle on the planet Morobas.
