Dry Bones, known as Karon in Japanese, are enemies in Nintendo's Mario franchise. They are skeletal Koopa Troopas reanimated by the Koopa Troopa's spirit inhabiting its bones. Dry Bones first appear in Super Mario Bros. 3 as inhabitants of fortresses and underground areas. Due to their undead nature, Dry Bones are exceptionally difficult to defeat, most attacks only knock them apart temporarily or have no effect at all.
