He and five others were prematurely released from their malfunctioning Borg maturation chambers after a virus had killed all the adult drones on their cube. In 2376 he and four of the other Borg children were eventually rescued and taken in by the crew of the USS Voyager.

He was in a relationship with Lieutenant Commander Lillian Crusher, who was posted aboard the USS Valiant. At the time of their relationship, Lillian became pregnant with his child, however she finds out that the father of her child was her ex-boyfriend and commanding officer, Captain Timothy Watters after learning that the baby was fully human.

Tijdens een virus uitbraak op zijn kubus werd hij van het Borg gedeelde bewustzijn gescheiden en door Seven samen met 3 anderen, waarma zij werden opgenomen in de familie van Voyager. Icheb had een grote aanleg voor wetenschap en astronomie en mocht van Janeway dan ook met Seven samenwerken in het astronomie lab, waar hij zijn talent kon ontplooien. Icheb is de enige van het viertal dat mee terug ging naar het alpha-kwadrant. Volgens de beschikbare gegevens werd hij na aankomst een Starfleet officier.
