While mysterious temporal anomalies were occurring on the ship in early 2371, Tuvok mentioned to Captain Janeway that he had encountered a half-Ktarian young girl claiming to be Naomi Wildman – even though no girl had been born yet. Captain Janeway mentioned she had met Ensign Wildman's husband once, a Ktarian, on Deep Space 9. (VOY: "Fury")

Greskrendregk plays an important role in "Letting Go", a short story in the Distant Shores anthology. Looking at events back on Earth after Voyager disappears, it reveals that Greskrendregk organized a 'party' for those friends and family of the crew of Voyager on the first anniversary of the ship's disappearance, musing in his first talk with Mark Johnson that Samantha is the only non-Ktarian he has met who is able to pronounce his name properly. The story ends when the third anniversary 'celebration' is interrupted by the discovery of Voyager's true fate, with Greskrendregk being congratulated on the discovery that he is a father as he and Samantha had been undergoing tests for compatibility and had been uncertain if they could even have children.

The treatments were successful - Samantha was (unknowingly) pregnant when she left DS9 aboard Voyager in 2371. Voyager was then stranded in the Delta Quadrant where Samantha subsequently gave birth to their child, Naomi Wildman in 2372. (VOY episode: "Deadlock") Samantha had considered naming her child after Greskrendtregk, had the child been a son; the name is an honored one in his family (he was the fifth generation male of his family line to have that name). (VOY episode: "Dreadnought") In 2372 on the one-year anniversary of the disappearance of Voyager, Greskrendtregk, who went by the name "Gres" organized a get-together of families and close friends of the crew of Voyager. The get together was held on DS9. By the second anniversary in 2373, Gres had taken a sixth month leave of absence from Starfleet and was living on Ktar where the second anniversary get-together was held. A year later, Gres was back on DS9 where he hosted the third anniversary get-together. In 2374, Gres, along with all of the families of the Voyager crew, heard the news that Voyager had survived and was stranded in the Delta Quadrant. Gres again planned an anniversary party, but it would be held on the anniversary of the day they found out their loved ones were still alive. (VOY - Distant Shores short story: "Letting Go") In 2378, Gres was reunited with his wife Samantha and met his daughter Naomi for the first time when Voyager returned to Earth. (VOY novel: Homecoming) By 2382, Gres had resigned his Starfleet commission, instead working with several civilian research labs due to his and his wife's decision to never be separated by their jobs again.
