- The silver key is an artifact in ADOM. In ADOM v 1.1.1 and some earlier versions, the artifact can only be generated by crowning. The silver key opens or locks any door safely, even if it is cursed. As of v. 1.2.0, when used on an empty square it will create a trapped locked door there in exchange for half the PC's maximum PP (rounded down). Of course, if the PC does not have enough PP then it will do nothing in this case. The silver key is currently the only randomly-generated artifact tool in ADOM (the only other artifacts that are classified as tools at all being the si and the Chaos Orbs).
- Silver keys can be used to unlock the silver chest, which is guaranteed to have at least one item of treasure, inside.
