Syir was the first metal that the Annunaki created at the behest of God. It was a black, crude substance, looking more like coal than metal, that was unique in that it possessed a soul in itself. While not sentient, Syir knew the desires of its master and sought to fulfill them at the best of their capabilities. Syir was the favored material to create Relics in the Age of Wrath.

The Host reduced any amounts of Syir back to its atomic particles when they razed Creation from the workings of the Fallen, but some supplies remained, secluded in pocket realms accessible only to the Annunaki. Some amounts of Syir, however, have been corrupted by their own solitude over the aeons and are now dangerous to use.
