The 2nd Policeman was in the second of two patrol cars contacted by Central Control to intercept the vehicle from the Searle and Ormerod Coach Company which was carrying the residents of the Street on their outing to the Lake District. The itinery from the coach company stated that the circular route was the M6 to Kendal, Shap, Eamont Bridge, Ullswater, Patterdale, Troutbeck and Windermere but Ray Langton had forced a vote on the coach for it to turn off the A6 at Levens Bridge and head straight for Windermere. The second patrol was alerted after several hours that the coach had been spotted in Patterdale and would be travelling along Kirkstone Pass
