Malthael is one of the three main antagonists of the video game Diablo III: Reaper of Souls and a supporting character in a animated short film, Diablo III: Wrath. Malthael is the former leader of the Angiris Council. Once the Archangel of Wisdom, he has since become the leader of the Reapers and the Angel of Death.

  • As with the rest of the Heavenly Host and its leaders, Malthael participated in the Great Conflict and played a crucial role in it. He was the first leader of the Angiris Council (and its eldest member) and through it, angelkind as a whole. According to Itherael, when the angels were young, Malthael was the one who found the Eye of Anu in Pandemonium and named it the Worldstone. Malthael himself developed a deep affinity with the stone, valuing it even more than other angels.

Seine Waffen sind zwei Sicheln und er hat eine ziemlich dürre und düstere Gestalt. Als Sanktuario geschaffen und abgestimmt wurde, ob die Menschheit zerstört werden sollte, enthielt er sich seiner Stimme. Später verschwand er zu Zeiten des Angriffs von Diablo auf die Hohen Himmel. Bisher weiß niemand wo er sich befindet.
