Such is the only end to immortality." The gods sometimes were referred to as "new gods" to distinguish them from the Elder Gods. Ganoes Paran thought that uncertainty was one of the few things the Gods feared.

  • Gods are everywhere on the Discworld, a crucial element of the world's peculiar ecology that gives power to belief and demands resolution to any and all narratives. Gods exist in potentia in numbers uncountable, but the moment an event of any note occurs — say, two snails happening to cross at a single point — a god becomes tied to it and begins to manifest in the physical world. Most gods remain small and unknown, but a very few come to the notice of humanity, whose belief then shapes and strengthens them until they gather enough power to join the Disc's vast, unwieldy pantheon.

  • One fundamental difference between mortals and gods is when a god ascends, they forfeit any right to any form of an afterlife. A god's person will utterly cease to exist upon death. The fallen god's energy can be harnessed by other gods to empower themselves further.

There have been many DMs that have used the Gods to further a story and there will be many more to come. Effectively using a God in your character's background and future playing can vastly improve the game for you and the others you play with. If you are a DM the choices for you may be even grater as you use NPCs within the adventure. A NPC may be more likely to serve one of the lesser known Gods who are not an obvious choice for the standard races/classes offered by the NWN engine. The list of Gods below will expand as you and other players/DMs contribute to the list. If you add a God which isn't listed

* Elune
  • During your adventure, you may find a god's altar. While at the altar, you can choose to worship the god it belongs to by praying. Be careful, though -- if you pray to a different god, you'll anger the one you currently worship. Praying while not at an altar will give you temporary hex protection and also uncurse any equipped items, and will also let you receive god gifts if you have enough favor. Being on good terms with your god can also net you bonuses to your abilities, skills, and special abilities. The types of benefits you gain from worship are different for each god.
  • The gods, along with the Titans, are supreme mythical beings that can create and control all kinds of magic and power. In Greek mythology, the gods, also called the Olympians (Δωδεκάθεον), were the principal gods of the Greek pantheon, residing atop Mount Olympus, a place forbidden for any mortal to travel unless given direct authorization to do so by the gods themselves. The 6 original Olympians were Hades, Hestia, Poseidon, Demeter, Hera, and Zeus. Later on there were 12 true Olympians, which included: Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Ares, Hermes, Hephaestus, Aphrodite, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Dionysus and Hestia, who later gave up her throne for Dionysus. Hades was not included because he resided in his home of the Underworld, rarely speaking with any of the other gods.
  • There are many gods in the universe of Mithgar, similar to that of Greek or Norse mythology. Most of these gods are unnamed unless they have a direct connection to the characters or their races. They dwell in Adonar, although the location is not particularly clear. Their existence is considered more fact than faith, since those who go to Adonar are capable of actually meeting them and speaking to them directly, although few seem to have done this. One Elf who did so was Phais.
  • Charles intended to use the Sword of Akasha to trigger Ragnarök, that would destroy the Gods and once destroyed, every human that has ever existed, living or dead, will be united and exist as one mind, thereby creating what Charles deemed as true equality, as he saw ordinary human equality as inherently evil, if not non-existent. Lelouch, realizing that such a world would be stagnant and without a future, rejects this plan in favor of accepting reality. He then uses his fully-evolved Geass to give the Gods the request to deactivate and destroy Ragnarök, therefore causing the Gods to turn against his parents and dissolve them into nothing.

  • Gods were any species that have incredible power, usually considered omnipotent to more primitive or less powerful beings. Often times such gods were worshipped, because of their great power, they are viewed as greater beings by mortals. Many gods were immortal or nearly, and some used their incredible abilities to enslave beings with less power. Some gods aren't even alive at all, such as Pytho-Rex, which is an idol worshipped by a race of Venusians.
