Bot accounts have a bot flag. Consequently, edits made by bot accounts do not appear in Special:RecentChanges, which is useful when a bot account is making a large number of edits in a short period of time. On most Wikia wikis, only Helpers and Wikia Staff can grant bot flags to users. However, at Admin Tools Wiki (ATW), Bureaucrats are also empowered to grant bot flags to users. A list of bot accounts can be found at Special:ListUsers/bot.

On most Wikia wikis, only Helpers and Wikia Staff can grant bot flags to users. However, at Admin Tools Wiki (ATW), Bureaucrats are also empowered to grant bot flags to users. In order to obtain a bot flag, the member must first seek approval at Admin Tools Wiki:Requests for bot approval (shortcut → ATW:RFB). S/he must not create the new bot account without first having been granted bot approval. A list of bot accounts can be found at Special:ListUsers/bot.
