Very little was known about the Defiler when he joined the Legion a short time before the Battle of Yavin. After proving exceptionally proficient during training, he was tasked by 8311 himself to destroy the Imperial star destroyer Bombardment, which he succeeded in doing. During this mission, the Defiler was supervised by Jandek Martel, who began to form an affection for the Defiler. Afterwards, the Defiler was dispatched to assassinate Senator Binks, which he apparently also succeeded in doing, although afterwards it became uncertain whether the person he killed had actually been Binks.

During this mission, the Defiler was supervised by Jandek Martel, who began to form an affection for the Defiler. Afterwards, the Defiler was dispatched to assassinate Senator Binks, which he apparently also succeeded in doing, although afterwards it became uncertain whether the person he killed had actually been Binks. Weeks later, a Black Sun vigo assaulted Legion holdings, prompting 8311 to send the Defiler to kill said Vigo. After infiltrating the vigo's palace, the Defiler dispatched him, causing Black Sun to take the Legion more seriously. This pleased 8311, who began to take more interest in the Defiler. Soon afterwards, the Defiler lead a raid on a Banking Clan vault on Muunilinst, and succeeded, bringing in a large amount of capital for the Legion. However, the Legion commander overseeing the operation was captured and sent to Oovo IV, although the Defiler immediately set out and rescued him, further increasing his popularity in the Legion. After a period of running various minor errands for the Legion, the Defiler was sent to Coruscant where he intimidated a wealthy heiress into funding the Legion, although he barely escaped law enforcement authorities. However, he was manipulated by Tyber Zann of the Zann Consortium into heading to Ryloth, where he fought off Consortium troops and engaged Urai Fen himself before escaping. Impressed, 8311 gave the Defiler an even harder task: stealing the Laus from Jabba. This the Defiler did, despite suffering several wounds during the mission. Next, the Defiler managed to successfully infiltrate a new Imperial battlestation and garnered valuable information, prompting the Empire to tighten security there. However, upon arriving back at Nar Shadda, the Defiler found the Legion Palace under siege and 8311 presumed dead. After rescuing his mentor Jandek, the Defiler escaped with him into the galaxy. Upon Jandek's lamenting that there was nothing left for him in the galaxy, the Defiler took off his helmet and revealed his identity, which shocked Jandek. It is unknown what happened to him afterwards.
