(AP) — VEHICLE EMISSIONS: The House Transportation Committee vote 19-5 to approve a bill that would prevent the state from requiring that only lower-emission vehicles be sold in Pennsylvania beginning in 2007. Instead, the legislation would allow car dealers to continue to sell higher-emission vehicles in Pennsylvania through at least 2014, and it would prevent Pennsylvania from adopting a California rule that requires automakers to sell vehicles with lower carbon-dioxide emissions. Gov. Ed Rendell has pressed for regulations that would adopt California's tougher emissions standards on vehicles sold in Pennsylvania. The bill goes to the full House for consideration.
