Bowman scaled it down to a one-race schedule during the 1956 season, when he competed at Weaverville for the first time in his career. It was still a good race for the driver though, piloting his car from 18th starting position to a 9th place finish at the end of the day. Bowman's final four races then would all come during the 1957 season, when recorded a career-high 60th place in the final point standings. That shouldn't shock anyone considering Bowman's results during the year, finishing no lower than 17th during the year. He recorded a 8th place run at Langhorne, a 16th at New Oxford and then the 17ths at Martinsville and Norfolk (his final career race).
