During , Tiberius, Keyleth, and Vax'ildan, along with Kashaw Vesh and Thorbir Falbek from the Slayer's Take guild, attempted to cross a river of acid using the carpet. They accidentally triggered a magical rune trap that caused the carpet's flying ability to be temporarily disabled. Vax attempted to save the carpet by holding it above the acid while wading through the rest of the way. As the carpet was being destroyed by what acid had damaged it, Tiberius attempted to repair the carpet using the Mending Wheel. While he was able to repair the carpet physically, it lost its flying enchantment and is currently just a normal rug. Several months later, Vex'ahlia discovered a second Carpet of Flying while searching through Thordak's treasure hoard beneath the city of Emon.
