Up until the Leader was appointed to another cabinet member the Deputy Leader of the House of Delegates carried out most of the work but since then the Leader has became more more involved with the day to day running of the office. Even though the office is a cabinet position it does not carry a bonus so all holders of the office have held normally a ministerial position mainly the Minister for Home Affairs. In the event that the prime minister is unavailable to speak at PMQ's they are replaced by either the deputy prime minister, Secretary of State or the leader of the delegation.
