He played junior hockey for the St Catharines TeePees and the Guelph Royals from 1958 to 1962, winning the Memorial Cup with the TeePees in 1960. Harris turned pro with the St. Louis Braves in 1962-63 and played there for two seasons. After the Detroit Red Wings picked him up in 1964, he played three seasons with their farm team, the Pittsburgh Hornets. In the NHL, Harris played in 26 games and scored a goal and 4 assists. In the WHA he played in 193 games and scored 53 goals and 47 assists.
