An Entity of Type : owl:Thing, within Data Space : dbkwik.webdatacommons.org associated with source dataset(s)

The title of this work is taken from the motto of Northwestern University, which directs us to "think on . . . whatsoever things are true . . . honest . . . just . . . pure . . . lovely . . . of good report." It features three distinct sections: a slow, mournful opening, a life-affirming middle section, and a reverential third section. The common thread in all three sections is the varied use of the theme from Haydn's St. Anthony Chorale, which is Northwestern University's Alma Mater Hymn. The work is dedicated to the memory of John P. Paynter, who served as Director of Bands at Northwestern University for more than 40 years, and who taught and inspired both the composer and our conductor. Composer-conductor Mark Camphouse is Professor of Music and Director of University Bands at Radford U
